Yes. She id s better shot than I am. I have to have a rest these days. I have seen her knock squirrels from a tall tree with no rest with her Mossberg 22. It was made in 1944, nice little rifle.

    Nothing wrong with that!
I got to get me another 243 I really like them, the creedmore and 260 just doesn't interest me if I could only have one rifle it would be a 243.

They are an accurate, flat shooting round. I bought this rifle for my Dad's birthday around 1972. He shot a lot of groundhogs with it, a lot of them at 200-300 yards. I don't ever remember seeing him miss. I don't know if they even make the Varmint Special anymore. It has a big ole barrel and it is heavy but it shoots well. Dad always used Remington Core-Lokt so that is what I use. This rifle likes them.

Yes, the bore is dirty. I cleaned it after taking this photo.

My buddy shot the end of the barrel out of his years ago. I guess where it wasn't crowned he had dinged it on something before the shot. That ol' .243, and his stories of bang-flops here, and out west with the rifle made me a .243 man for life.

When I went to looking for the BDL varmint special chambered in .243 in the early 80's there was none to be found. I ended up with a heavy barrel model 77 that since then has bang-flopped most everything that I squeezed the trigger on.

I knew the 77 was gonna be a keeper after the first few shots at the range, so I started to neatly notch the stock after I killed the first deer with it, but I talked myself out of it. I wish I went on with my original plans to put the notches in now, because I have lost count of deer killed with it.:(

Love a .243. Don’t reckon I’ve killed more critters with one than any other caliber. I’ve also really took a liking to 7/08 in the past few years.

Great shooting Carl but I’d be careful with that Acme target. Wiley Coyote bought a lot of rockets, rocket powered roller skates, rocket powered pogo sticks, and various explosives from that company and none of it turned out well for him. Can’t believe their still in business!!!
