I haven’t killed a bird in 15 years, instead have spent the years taking others. Additionally about 7 years ago a buddy and I started a successful non profit outdoor youth organization ( takingkidsoutdoors.com ) and we have guided or set up guides for 100’s of kids. It’s been a blessing seeing those relationships built and kids start to return to our group to guide new youth. this year I was blessed to have two different young men take my oldest son out. To me this is important to building new relationships he will rely on as he grows into a man. It also gave me the weekend to get in the woods with my youngest son one on one. Although he and I didn’t kill a bird we had tons of good activity and he learned. Needless to say Easton, now 11, had a good weekend and has now harvested his 3rd & 4th turkey to date. Not a brag here, well it kinda is, but it’s amazing an 11 year old has a harvest log this strong. Our kids have naturally chosen the outdoor path and have no interest in video games and such. They are already outdoor mentors to their friends which is very encouraging!
