I’m a fan of the storm chug bugs! And a couple of home made variety’s but hard to beat the chug bug. Top water is my all time favorite way to catch smallmouth especially when they wait to blow it up right at your feet.

Black hula popper at night with a little bit of moonlight will catch fish.

Black Jitterbug works good too.

These are all good leads. I have only 1 popper as ive said so was looking to add to the popper game. My friend let me use his popper and that sucker was smashing it. Changed popper and got nothing. I noticed there was a definite difference in the splash it gave and reflectiveness color and sound, the second popper never got a swirl last year. So ill be getting the name of that first popper and probably 3 or 4 of the ones i like best on here and trying it all out this summer. I love a popper bite.
I need a popper arsenal.

Love top water fishing. Have used them all. Sammy seems to work best on old tired lakes. My all time favorite big bass topwater is the devil horse in black and white. Have caught two over ten with it.

Top water in general as much as I like walking the dog with a spook I’ve tore up a lot more on top water on a Lucky Craft Sammy in ghost pearl lemon.

As far as poppers the original rebel p70 in bone or chrome is solid. I love the megabass popx in bone.
Walking baits, the evergreen showerblow and RI vixen are deadly.
I don’t throw a buzzbait much anymore since the whopper plopper came out. White again.
