Whats your favorite and least favorite and why?

I think my favorite was the 1 cat I caught last year, a blue, because of its long runs and the way it ran with the bait when it bit. Not a shy bite.

Least favorite is carp.. and i hate unhooking smallmouth because they are so wirey to unhook, like the jumps though.

Hard to beat saltwater.
Freshwater I would say Ky bass or smallmouth. A big channel cat is a blast too. Never laid in to a trophy muskie or striper, but I'd imagine they'd be right up there at the top.

A big flathead. There ain't a fish around here with shoulders like them, and they know how to use them. Damn bulldozers when they find out they're hooked. I love a big blue too, but they'll go to flopping and damn near give up when you really horse them.
My least favorite (bad wording really) is probably a crappie. I love catching them, but they're pansies. Especially on the cold water bite.

Big Ol mean copperbelly on a 6/0 with a ‘lectrode on my fave true temper or hurricane pickin pole. Least favorite a damn amberjack. Unless it’s on a hydraulic bandit, then I still hate them nasty things. Unless they are 70+ and rallying. That’ll top a box off quick.
Now for show, give me a hot white or sail on light tackle. They’ll give you a show like you ain’t ever seen.
For tourist, kingfish, wahoo or a bonita. Kingfish and wahoo are long and skinny, most folks come down and have never caught a fish 2-3’ or longer and they are just tickled, for a deckhand they are easy to control and make big smiles which equal big tip$$$ Bonitas are great, they pull like the dickens make a couple runs then come on in, there again for the deckhand easy to control and makes kids day

Favorite: Lingcod. They hit like a mack truck. Not a lot of top water action, but a good fight below the surface and - while ugly as sin - the best eatin' fish on the planet. A good friend I was out fishing with caught one four years ago that wasn't hooked. It swallowed a 7.5 pound salmon whole and wouldn't turn loose until we had him gaffed.

Least favorite: Halibut. It's like pulling up a dry wall bucket. Good eatin' but I hate pulling them up.

Both are on my bucket list

Love about anything on a fly rod or light action. Hook about 10 inch trout in swift water on a fly rod and you’ll think you got a monster. Smallies hard to beat but I’ve never caught a big one. Caught a 26 inch redfish on some light action that was pretty fun.

Amberjacks are a SOB. We got in to a bunch of kingfish once just casting with spinning rods. That was a blast. Especially a change of pace from just horsing damn reef donkeys all morning.

My favorite way to catch kingfish if I’m catching them is either on a 6/0 and pickin pole fishin way up in the water or trolling using hand lines and planers. Get on to a good show of fish in the 15-20lb class you can make some time. Makes it fun when you can catch 2-3k in 3-4 hours

We didn't catch that many! But having them hit right at the top was a blast. Made for some great thick-cut, grilled mackerel steaks.
