I always do cow archery b/c best odds and bull gun just in case luck is on my side. Did get drawn for cow archery in 11. Only got to go 5 days and didn’t get one. Had a monster bull at 23 yds my 2nd evening out...go figure!

Question: I’m too poor to buy the tickets but is there only one Commissioners Tag drawn each year? Reading the mail they sent with the tickets and it sounds like only one tag. Guess I always thought there were multiple drawn.

I was able to get an archery cow after a dozen stalks. Like you, had a good bull under 25 yards working to retrieve my cow, and walked up on these two in the fog on my first morning out. Good luck to all.

That’s an awesome sight! I think I would have had a chance to be successful if I had hunted more. Did a DIY on private land and just didn’t get to go enough. Only had opening week in October and it was still very leafy out and they were on the mountain tops. Had fun though!

There's the statewide lottery at $10 an entry with several hundred tags available.
I think you might be talking about an additional drawing for a guided hunt with a commissioner's tag that is done for a fundraiser. Entries are more expensive for that one.

Oh I know about the lottery. Yes I was asking about the Commissioner Tag. Was wondering if they drew for more than 1. I’m hearing no.

Bidding on auction tags may start at $10,000. Lottery chances on some are $100 each but they may be limited to 200 or 250 applicants.

For the “rigged” comments above, I’m not saying I know everything that goes on and it been 7 years since I got drawn for my cow archery but I’ll tell you this...the guy that let me hunt his private land was retired KDFW resource officer. He put in for himself and his 2 sons every year since it began. They had never been drawn as of 2011! Only person in his family that had been drawn was his SIL who got a bull firearm the first time she’d ever put in. To add to her luck, she killed a monster bull that was like #7 biggest in the state at that time.
