Within an hr of knott co. Looking for 7mm or .270 cal. Ain’t really looking for an expensive or perfect shape firearm. Just something to get the job done when I pull the trigger. Thanks

KyGunCo has a great deal on Compass Rifles with an upgraded trigger. I bought two a few years ago in .223 and 243 and they are both accurate. Also they have a $50 rebate going on. ($235 After Rebate) They can ship to a local dealer if it is too far.

I certainly wouldn't wait or think about buying a rifle for this year's Season. The current rate rifles and other firearms are selling, one doesn't have much of a choice on Brand or Caliber.

I'm having a hard time finding the rebate. My sister is in the market for a rifle.

The Compass is notorious for the magazine to jam up, they're rotary and plastic,
the inside center pin that rotates fall out from one side, I know this because I bought one for my 17 YO last year, Never again for me.

That's good to know. I'd there any difference with the newer compass 2? I was looking at the TC or Axis for my sister.

If I were in the market to buy a new rifle, I'd choose a CZ Bolt Action. Ruger would be my second choice; seems like Savage, and the other companies's rifles are cheaply made with all the plastic parts, including the Stock.

I do like the CZ's. She's just looking for a cheap, entry level gun. Ruger Americans are pretty affordable. Sorry didn't mean to highjack your thread mudhole.

No problem. She might consider buying a used CZ or Ruger rifle, sometimes folks, that no longer hunt, sell their rifles. Can usually find a good price on a well cared rifle. I have a Ruger American Rim Fire in .22 LR as well as a CZ Model 452 in .22 LR and of the two the CZ is the best. Also own a Ruger M-77 in .308 and it's my "to-go" Deer rifle, and it has open sights.

Savage are some of the most well manufactured guns on the market for the money. If you get out of the entry models.
