Windy youth weekend

My oldest is aged out 😭 but my little girl will be able to go in a few more years 😝. I have a rule that you have to hold the gun and shoot by yourself before I take you to shoot one. I don't play the game of daddy holds the gun and aims and the kid pulls the trigger.

How old is she? I asked my 7-year old this morning if she wanted to go. I expected her to say no because she flip flops a lot on hunting or shooting anything. Her eyes lit up and said yes I wanna go. It got my mind thinking but there's not enough time to get her a .410 or something similar and practice. I think she's probably a year or two away anyways but it got me thinking.

She is 8. I got her a stevens 301 turkey .410 last year and she used it to go squirrel hunting this past fall. I bought an ATI pistol grip stock for a New England single shot shotgun and modified it to fit her gun so that I could adjust the length of the stock. I don't know why they don't make a youth turkey model and I couldn't find a youth stock so this was my best option. If you are able to get to a sportsmans warehouse I think they have the 301s on sale right now.

They are. But I am talking about little baby jr sitting in my lap and just pulling the trigger why daddy does everything. Not in my house. You are going to carry, shoulder, aim, and pull the trigger by yourself or not at all.

I plan on taking my 4 year old Saturday morning to just get out and hopefully hear a few birds. He will be packing a Red Ryder and a push button call he got for Christmas if he hasn’t wore it plumb out by Saturday morning lol

Giving it to be pretty windy this weekend here in the east. I sure don’t like turkey hunting in the wind.

ya know us OH boys mud. we will be making the trip. our pre-seaosn scout trip last weekend let us know plenty of birds in there. stinks the oldest boy can’t pull the trigger there anymore n my heavens has that oldest boy killed em there. but the youngest is gettin in the board there too. he’s killed two down in his 2yrs beinf to be on the gun. one bird sporting a 12” beard.

i’m here to ya KY fellers. we hunt ALOT of states. and KYs turkey population is darn near one of the best populations that we hunt

Anyone who wants to borrow a 410 for Youth weekend and you can meet me somewhere close to Lexington, I’ll be glad to meet you this evening. That will give you tomorrow to get a few practice shots in. I got an American Tactical Nomad with a red/green dot on it. I’ve only shot it like 4 times. No I am not responsible for anything that may happen to your child because they were using my gun.🤦‍♂️
