Love to cut down on weight but I wanna stay with a 12. Anybody use a stevens 301 12 gauge? My 500 has been good to me but packing is a chore in the mountains. We cover a lot of ground.

I bought a Stevens 301 Turkey 410. It came with a mounted and boresighted sight as a package. The sight is not a name brand but it does says Red Dot 1x30. I know 1power 30mm. Below is a picture of the sight paperwork that was with the gun manual. My question is does anyone know the brand of the sight and what is the MOA? I looked up many brands of 1x30 and they mostly have 5 MOA. I have other guns with red dots and they are 1x22 with 3MOA dots. Like them and use to them.

Same here. Once I bought my son a 20 ga turkey gun I have never carried a 12 turkey hunting again. Absolute hammers but I suggest buying shells when opportunity exists. I have enough to tag out for several years and they absolutely hammer them.

I’ve got a .410 single shot and some fox trot 383 strokers been aiming to hunt with it but I haven’t. May try this year.
Ditto on the .410 this year.
Killed them with 12ga, 20ga, Matthews vertical and Ravin crossbow. At first used lead then hevi shot for a long time and now TSS. This year I purchased two 410’s. Stevens 301 Turkey single shot with 1x30 red dot and Mossberg 500 pump with Bushnell 1x20 - 3MOA dot. Will be using 3” TSS #9. Getting excited season just around the corner.

I’ve read that even a 410 with tss and the right choke is really all you need. I might move down to a 20 one of these years. Hard to break old habits I guess.
My last few birds have been with a single shot .410. With TSS loads, its good out beyond where I like to shoot em and it weighs about 3 or 4 pounds. I'd be comfortable shooting out to 40 with it, although my shots are usually under 20.

I have a 301 stevens in 20ga..killed a bird with #9 tss on public last year at 4pm after 10 miles of walking that day. Being light and maneuverable mad the difference that day...my inlaw has a 12ga stevens 301 with a Carlson choke.. it shoots longbeard excellent out to 60 yards

My last few years hunting ,was with a twelve gauge encore pro hunter ,a lot lighter than my ole mossburg, shoots as good as about anything I’ve shot.If I could still go ,I might try smaller gauges ,but I just don’t see how I could improve, unless some recoil difference.

I'm 75 years old and still pack a 835 (sometimes a M3500). That and Winchester LB XR and no turkey inside 60 yds will survive. No doubt TSS is more better but dead is dead.
My dad is 81 and carries a Browning Ducks Unlimited edition pump that weighs a ton. He did like up a little 410 last year but hasn’t killed with it yet.

I shot a couple one year with the 410 , years back before tss , I don’t mind the Ol 870 but I’m gonna move to 20 gauge next year and purchase a 410 to pass down to the granddaughter once she is old enough I like the 410 pump Mossberg has and the little 20 auto they have probably go that route
