Killed them with 12ga, 20ga, Matthews vertical and Ravin crossbow. At first used lead then hevi shot for a long time and now TSS. This year I purchased two 410’s. Stevens 301 Turkey single shot with 1x30 red dot and Mossberg 500 pump with Bushnell 1x20 - 3MOA dot. Will be using 3” TSS #9. Getting excited season just around the corner.Ditto on the .410 this year.
My last few birds have been with a single shot .410. With TSS loads, its good out beyond where I like to shoot em and it weighs about 3 or 4 pounds. I'd be comfortable shooting out to 40 with it, although my shots are usually under 20.I’ve read that even a 410 with tss and the right choke is really all you need. I might move down to a 20 one of these years. Hard to break old habits I guess.
My dad is 81 and carries a Browning Ducks Unlimited edition pump that weighs a ton. He did like up a little 410 last year but hasn’t killed with it yet.I'm 75 years old and still pack a 835 (sometimes a M3500). That and Winchester LB XR and no turkey inside 60 yds will survive. No doubt TSS is more better but dead is dead.
Great to hear your Dad is out hunting. I hope I'm still chasing critters at that age.M
