Like many guys have said, we couldn't handle another week of gun season in Johnson County. But I would be willing to bet when I am in the stand this weekend, there will be several high powered shots ring out...I don't think gun season ever goes out for some people.
I sure hear you on this, that is our biggest problem in East KY.
Now this quote:Last time I checked the season is still open in zones 3 and 4..... Put down the novice weapon and pick up the advanced hunters weapon. Of course you can't hunt from your truck with a bow. People say they don't have time to bow hunt but they sure manage to find time to kill I mean hunt with a gun.
You know that this would really make some people mad enough to call you several nasty names and your reference to a novice weapon just shows your lack of age and experience, there are several factors in life that might prevent one from hunting with a bow, that was able to hunt with for 20 years but cannot use now. So you might want to consider others when you start to make such statements because everyone may not be as lucky as you are.

I personally like to ride in the bed of my truck and let my son drive. Put a knife between my teeth and when he gets close, I jump on their backs and cut their throat. Quiet and I don't lose nearly as many arrows as I used to. Only problem is my son thinks it is funny to speed up right when I jump at a big buck and end up with the G2 sticking some place it ain't supposed to be. He thinks it is funny as hell the lil bastard!

I must apologize to those who have physical reasons not to be able to bow hunt. Tho I ask why not a crossbow and ground blind, I know I would do anything that would get me in the woods more often. My statement was meant for the guys you never see the first 2 months of the season. Then magically they show up during gun season long enough to shoot up the countryside and 2 weeks later it's quiet the rest of the season. I realize there are hunters and there are guys who just want to shoot something. I'm in it for the love of the outdoors.

you ever think that maybe there not doing it just to be out there? Some people only hunt with a gun becaus there only hunting for meat. It's much easier to put meat I'm the freezer with a gun than it is with a bow

I don't think the problem in Breathitt County is lack of deer. The biggest thing I see is that people don't call half of them in. If all the deer killed in this area were recorded, I'm sure population would be considered a lot greater than what it is and we would be bumped a zone. Personally, I'd like to see them eliminate rifle season for the entire state and change it to shotgun/muzzleloader only.

Behind the bushes......
Fayette County is where you want to hunt, massive Antlers abound if you drive out Old Frankfort Pike. No kidding you will see actual Herds of Deer. Of course if that is at the wrong end of the County you may want to hunt some of the River bottoms out Richmond road you can find all kinds of Booners down by Fort Boonesburough.

Shoot son. Forget that bow. A true "Master Hunter" only hunts with home made spears or rocks and a sling. Personally, if I can't jump out of the stand on em I like to have a buddy drive through fields while I wait in the bed, spear at ready. No true rush until you've leaped head first at 35 mph and spine tagged a Booner.

Maybe it's this backwoods meth talking but It's enough to make a man want to wrestle one bare handed as the only hope to get the same feeling.

Why? You'd see the same number of people out there with a lot more crippled or lost deer.

I'd like to see them make it doe only for about 5 years.

I fail to see what that would accomplish. Most deer are shot within shotgun or muzzle range.

I have a suggestion. Since the numbers are so low in zone 3 and 4, lets close season altogether in those counties for about 5 years.

Lets see here, it's simple math. You want a 30 minute massage you pay a price; you want an hour massage you pay a higher price. You want finishing job, well isn't that kinda like poaching.....you don't have to hunt for it.
