Which powder is more accurate

I will try and save you some trouble, I have a 300yd range here behind my shop there is and has been a lot of muzzleloaders shot here. Last week a friend of mine brought over a CVA Accura V2.

We did some testing with Blackhorn 209 powder behind the Barnes 250 grain Spit Fire TEZ flat base bullets, using Harvester Crush Rib High Pressure Sabots, with Federal 209A Primers. We shot several loads and the best load we came up with was "110 grain that's volume" weighed on scales that's 77 grains, we weighed every charge we shot.

We used a chronograph and the average velocity was right at 2000 FPS. Of course your accuracy will change using different bullet, sabot combos, as far as powder I wouldn't use anything but Blackhorn 209, I have seen a lot of powders shot here and the Blackhorn seems more consistent than anything with no Crude Ring to worry about. All though we did shoot a couple loads of Hodgdon Triple 7 FFFG that did real well also. Hope this helps.

I have shot Shockeys Gold loose powder for 15 years or so. In my Encore it shoots 1/2" moa. I have shot tons of deer tween 100-150 yds in the neck, it's that accurate. I still have maybe 60 loads left. Hopefully it will last the rest of my lifetime. I use it in my muzzle loading shotgun too and it does very well!

I personally think ,most accuracy is lost ,when to much powder is used ,trying to get more range.Just my opinion and experience

I started having better results when I started loading down. Yes I loose range but it’s a muzzle loader after all. Most all of my shots are inside 100 yards anyway

With that kind of accuracy and that many deer I wouldn't change a thing.

I pray I never have to. But if I run out, I'll be calling American Pioneer and asking what product had that name and try it.

Very similar to my results. Good starting point if looking to fine tune. Mine liked this load best:
70gr weight BH (100gr volume)
250 gr Barnes spit-fire t-ez
Federal 209a primers

What powder n accuracy is best ? Each ML is a diff ball game as you could own n shoot 5 ML of the same Brand n cal. Each will want a diff combo. You just have to dig in and work up loads. I have 2 .50 cal one is a TC inline n the other is a flintlock. They are both accurate but use diff powder charge n diff bullets. This stuff its a ML so its only good to 75-100 yards is rubbish. A good load n good eyes n sights will get you hand sized groups at 150 yards off a shooting bench. I have known others at the matches that can shoot at 500 yards n more with 8" groups n less
