still pretty sparse here in the mountains. just a bit of powder here and there and most of it is pistol powder. No herc, longshot, any Dot's etc.. No primers, centerfire is still over priced. limited shotgun ammo, no 410's anywhere to speak of. Slugs are non existent Im told. I cast and load my own slugs so I havnt checked myself..
At the start of squirrel season my facebook was lit up with guys scrambling to find shells to squirrel hunt with:rolleyes: of course guys you havnt heard from in years are suddenly messaging looking for ammo;)
Same thing at the start of youth season..

Finally got to settle into my reloading bench for a bit tonight. Did a little inventory check. Aside from some bullets I'd like to try, and maybe some small rifle primers, I ain't buyin shit. My son should never need much, either.

Nice bench and storage area. Real loading bench that looks like it gets used. I see a lot of photos of Setups online that are "Too Neat" for me and looks like they aren't used any.
I see some old metal cans of powder that have been bought long ago as well as old style Hornady and Sierra bullet boxes. Love it.
But, you never have nuff primers...you can trade them for piles of the rest of the stuff. I found some I had bought 40 years ago and every one of them fired just fine.

Yessir, none of it amounts to much without the primer.
Some of those Speer and Sierra bullets in there are older than I am lol

Other than just shooting I wouldn’t have to buy another round to hunt with. I cast most of my stuff and I’m good there too. I am what I consider low on powder and primers. When this all stabilizes , trust me I’ll never be low again

Most likely it's not going to get better. The days of going back to normal are over. The time to have stocked up was simply long ago and many of us missed out due to age and money restrictions that are not our fault. Look at all the 18 year old teens that got a real kick in the ass when the smoking age went up to 21 and stores started refusing to sell ammo to 18 year old teens in some places. Those teenage guys and gals could not help what the law and stores decided to do. Maybe if they had good parents that stocked up on ammo or whatever they needed, other then that they are hung out to dry.
From what I see and can make of it all we wont be doing much legal hunting after 2030-2031 date.

Whether or not the ammunition/reloading components once again become available remains to be seen. One thing I am certain will result is a decline in Sport hunting & Target shooting. People will soon become very tired and frustrated in having to hunting down ammunition and reloading supplies and paying three times what they use to cost just a couple of years ago. It's really bad that one has to hunt down a box of shells in order to sport hunt. I see many businesses switching from hunting and shooting supplies to something else or go out of business, if things don't get better.
