What species of hawk?

    Photo is not very clear, but it looks like a Red Shouldered Hawk. Did it have a red-orange breast?

    Haven’t been able to get a glimpse of the breast yet. It has a nest close by in a tall sycamore.

    The head looks more like the head of a falcon....Look at the position of the eye relative to the beak.

    Pic ain't great but my $$ says red shouldered,..very common in these parts,....

    I would agree, looks very similar. Haven’t been able to get a shot of the front but it looks just like your pictures.

    Same family or genus as redtailed,...they are both broad winged hawks. Buteos
