Looks like warts to me, which might be a genetic condition. .....OR.... the Buck placed "fake" warts on his back so no one would shoot him......
I believe his fur is just ruffled from his antlers digging in while he’s bedded and grooming his flank.
Yeah, just hair ruffled. I just had a little six come in that was ruffled on his back too.
Looks like he has been bedding down in a cocklebur patch.
