Hunting on my property this morning and watched a nice 9 pointer fall and die 30 yards from where sitting from an apparent gut shot. Don’t know if I’d someone from a neighboring property shot it or what, but not sure if I should clean it and keep the meat, call it in, or what. What’s the right thing to do here?

Do I call it in? If I take it to be processed I don’t have a tag for it since I didn’t shoot it. Never had this happen before...

I would wait a hour or two and see if anyone comes towards you and then tag it in your wife’s name and take it to be cleaned.

If you know your neighbor, contact them to see if they shot it. If not contact the warden about getting a tag for it

    Visit the neighbors first....
    If no results from neighbors.
DO NOT tag this in your wife's name, she didn't shoot it,
    call the GW for advice.

    Probably in the kitchen Ky
That could be some kids deer. Id holler out to see if anyone is close and then check to see if neighbors lost one. Let them use their buck tag and tag their trophy. Plus if they dont get this buck theyll probably just shoot another.have them tag it in front of you.

Hear any shots? If not it traveled a good distance. Call it in, tag it, its yours. Season is over and no cleaning gun.

I think he's good to share it, just not the person who shot it. Unless he uses his wife's tag than they can't share it. I'm sure we can get an expert's opinion.
