I think baiting does nothing to stop the spread. Deer are constantly liking each other like a momma cat. They groom each other and eat in the same areas naturally.

Now… I can stop baiting as I never did it back in the day. The problem now, is the Billy Bob next door does and probably will continue ban or no ban. Now I’m left at a disadvantage.
Can't stop what happens naturally, but far more deer congregate at bait, in close proximity.... As for Billy Bob, a phone call will stop that problem.. I would have zero problem reporting them, should this come to pass......

My .02. I’ll quit baiting if it’s not allowed. But I’m betting some neighbors won’t. They might bait further back in the woods etc so as to lessen chance of getting busted but they will bait. Old habits die slow.

That might give them an advantage of sorts but ok if it does. I can’t get too riled up anymore about it all as I used to and it to some degree sucked the fun out of deer hunting.

I don’t see how CWD isn’t here soon if in facts it’s not already.

I believe that baiting does help spread disease if it’s in the herd. If you have a cornpile every deer around while be slobbering over it at some point in time. People talking about them congregating at areas, they don’t eat the same acorn or apple etc do they? But when comes to a pile of corn it’s all shared.

I look at it like going to a restaurant, I may congregate in same area as sick people but you won’t catch me sharing a plate with them and that’s how I view the cornpile.

I didn’t see you wired that way. Not a problem to me I don’t care too much. But have you sat on a acorn flat and watched the deer. They groom each other. Lick kiss etc. they all bed together for crise sakes. There social animals that live in family groups. It’s like trying to hide from this chink virus. There is no quarantine. There is no mask that will help. It’s running rampant here as we speak. My best friend that I was with all weekend is sick. If I die put me on the hill and pour a Busch light over me. You cannot stop some of this no matter what we do. It is OUT of our hands.

I'll only add that in my opinion getting rid of baiting would not only help the health of the deer herd but also the turkey flock. There were a lot more turkeys in my area before every one and their grandma had a corn pile out

That’s all true, but other than the rut, family groups don’t interact a whole lot. Bait brings them together more. Just my .02. Like I said, I’d do whatever it takes to help the herd.

I don’t bait so nothing changes for me. But I am wondering if the fines for baiting will temporarily increase as a deterrent?

Wouldn’t hurt my feelings at all to stop. I think I have bought 4 bags of shell corn total in the last 3 years. I didn’t even run cameras last year but have a couple on this new place I just picked up because I don’t know the area well. I do know some folks that would continue because if they couldn’t, they would be lost!!!
