Guys, I noticed a few weeks ago while shooting my bow that it was hurting my shoulder when I drew back. It was bearable though, unfortunately now its not. When I draw my bow it feels like someone is stabbing me in the shoulder and now I cant even put my hand behind my back. Going to let it rest for a couple days but Im pretty sure I have torn something....Anyone else ever experience this. What was the diagnosis?

Rotator Cuff. It takes awhile to recover I tore mine in 08 and at times mine is still tender.

Sounds like a torn rotator cuff.

I would see a dr and print you off a disability form for a crossbow. At least you will still get to be out there. Good luck!

Back off to 55, and go see a doctor. An injection will get you through the season, then you can rest it for a few months. I had shoulder issues two years ago. Couldn't pull 50 pounds without it hurting like hell. I finally got an injection, and knock on wood, shoulder has not bothered me since. Shot isn't pleasent, but it fixes things a lot of the time. You'll get about 3 inches or so of needle from the back, but the benefit is wonderful. Trust me, I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last month. Good luck

Sounds like its time for a Dr.'s note and a crossbow.

I'm pulling 53 lbs and at times it too much. No way in hell could I do 70.

You don't need 70 lb limbs.

You may be ok! I had the same thing happen, but my right index finger went numb and stayed that way for 4 weeks. It is just now becoming like normal, still has a tingle but not as much.

Hey, 55 is plenty. I was shooting 55 and over 300 FPS. After the shot, I'm now shooting 60 with no problems in the shoulder(elbow another story). I'm going to jump up to a 70 pound bow next year. I'm 49, and I ain't going down without a fight.

I would really rather stick with the compound if I can, but if I have to I will get a crossbow and a paper!

I hear you. I know a crossbow is in my future as well. Elbows hurt all the time. Drop that poundage, and get lighter arrows. I was shooting 55 pounds at 27" draw with flatlines over 300 FPS, and shooting better than ever. Drop the poundage dude. Your shoulder will thank you, and get that injection.. It's not that bad.

Prolly either a torn rotator cuff or a torn labrum. Either sucks and will probably require surgery. Recovery time after surgery will be at least 3 months, and that's with hard rehad. Hopefully, it's neither and maybe a strained muscle. Take some time off and avoid lifting or pulling anything (if possible) and hopefully you can get back into bowhunting strong again. Goodluck bud.
