Bansner sleeved one for me and my experience was just the opposite of yours. with Federal 4s that he recommended it didn't pattern worth a crap! I wouldn't hunt with it till I found some Activ # 6s 2 1/4 oz. shells used it for years after that!
I miss those Activ shells. I used them in 20s and 12s. Wish they still made them. 12 gauge 2 3/4 6s Turkey dead at 40 yards.
I to like to get Birds Turkey and Ducks close for shots. I know I did my job calling and pulling them in. Now Duck and Goose hunting has gotten in to the long range shells and shots.

I know a lot of people love the TSS and I’m not giving up on it but I have a 410 and a 20 I tried to pattern with TSS last year and wasn’t happy enough to take either into the woods. Neither one were in the league of my regular Benelli field pump with Carlson choke shooting XR Longbeards. I tried federal, browning and Apex. Too expensive to keep on shooting until I get a pattern I like so I quit and put them away.

IVE BEEN USEING FEDERAL TSS # 9 SHOT IN A 20 GA. IVE WORNDING IF REMINGTON TSS IN #9 SHOT WILL SHOT THE SAME. I KNOW REMINGTON SOLD IT FEDERAL SO MY THINKING IS IT THAT IT IS THE SAME AMMO. THEY BOTH ARE 1100 FPS. 1.5 OZ . JUST LET ME KNOW WHAT SOME OF YOU ALL THINK...
Don’t know about the Remington but I’ve shot Browning and Federal, they both pattern similar and very good.

I shot Active shells for a long time , and the old Winchester xx Turkey #5 killed a lot of turkeys with those shells , if I switch to a 20 gauge I will try the TSS , after the economy gets better if it ever does LOL. But for a 12 gauge I just use lead , I don’t shoot past 30-35 no ways , and my gun has a 21” barrel and patterns awesome past 40 no need for nothing else IMO

383 strokers for the .410. Pattern great out of my single shot.

It’s prolly a number of things.
I’m no expert but I’ve patterned federal, remington, and browning tss and my custom loads I loaded from Tommy’s recipe and the foxtrot ammo pattern the best.
It may be the powder. It may be the tungsten that I got from Tommy was perfect round. It may be that if you do it custom it’s more consistent than what mass produce does. Really don’t know. Just kinda guessing here. Like anything if it’s custom instead of mass produce comes out better.
I may be way off base. Idk.
Could be about anything you put together,is probably more precise.

You need to shoot instead of asking!! IMO tss from federal remington or browning or who ever sucks ain’t gonna get no more of my dime.
No factory tss here. I’ve shot all the factory tss I’m gonna shoot. Unless patterns improve. Can do better with lead. Idk what they do but they suck.
May as well shoot longbeards they pattern better than factory tss IMO THRU MY GUN.
I shoot custom tss or longbeards.
I shoot that hevi-shot from Nitro Ray in Missouri and its the best patterning stuff I've ever shot. My kids both shoot the Federal TSS and it patterns great in their guns with their chokes. I'm not even sure what choke they are shooting but its from a Remington Versamax. We reload rifle ammo but not shotgun, I'd like to try it sometime but I've never shot anything that's lead thats even in the same ballpark as even the factory TSS.

Always find it funny when hunters complain about the price of hunting ammo but spend $10 plus on a bag of corn. How many shells does a turkey hunter actually shoot in one season? Same for a deer hunter, how many shells? I have 3 boxes (15 shells) of turkey ammo that should last me several yrs. Shot my hunting rifle 4 times this hunting season. Box of hunting ammo goes a long way IMO, no need to cut corners.

Its starting to heat up, grab your popcorn 🍿 and sit awhile. Tss vs lead. Can't wait.

That's exactly right.

dead is dead. I can see TSS for the sub gauges but for a 20 or 12ga been killing them for years with $1-$2 a shot lead. inside 50 yards they are dead every time. for the extra $10-15 yall spend on your 2 shells I can get several more trips of gas to the farm to hunt or buy myself a nice breakfast after hunting.

I like to kill them at 75........................"several more trips of gas for 10 or 15, you must be driving about 200 yards. I don't eat breakfast anyway.

Been using longbeards for quite a few years now. They have always done great for me. When I started using them I felt like I had found an unfair advantage lol I don’t need anything that shoots farther than they do. If I ever stop carrying a 12 gauge I may change my mind.
Now I would like to have some of the apex tss loads for coyote like #4 buck, but I just can’t spend that money
