So the govt had them for 6 months.

They did not return any documents in June. They had a whistleblower tell them about more or there and gave Trump a chance to turn them all in and didn't. He sent a lawyer out said all they've given all the documents to the government that belong to them which was a lie. That's where the info came from, the National Archives. THEIR timeline shows the documents were in DC in Jan 2022 and send to Trump in June 2022.
