Tree rubs in March

There is some small trees from the size of my fist down to saplings on a little hump that I let grow. There are 50 + trees that have just been rubbed and rubbed hard in the last few day. Bucks have been in there tearing it up.
We have been watching this area for a while now hoping to find some sheds. I am hoping they keep rubbing and knock some horns of but I was thinking horns should have fallen off by now. I am hoping that late drops don't effect antler size for next deer season.

My son told me he saw 3 large bucks with their antlers still intact a week ago crossing the road half mile above his house.

The third rut is upon us.

Are they rubbing or eating the young bark? I normally have a thick plot of ww this time of year and it failed this year. Maybe they hongry?

They can still breed. I saw two scrapes last week too. A fawn may be just coming in for the first time and if a buck still has antlers it can still do its thing.

I’ve been hiking this weekend, found one shed from last year, and two deadheads. No new sheds, and I covered some ground.

Saw several freshly worked scrapes a few weeks ago along edge of clover plot. Strange for sure. Maybe that’s why I didn’t see much of anything happening in November……or December…..or January. Tough season.

Watched a hard horned buck one i saw everyday of gun season checking 3 does this morning.

Interesting. deer on my cams now are starting to grow little nubs.

When I seen the last couple hard horned there was a few popping up velvet already

I'll go back through my pics and check but I think I had one out 2-3" at end of March last year
