Has anyone used this setup? I have given up muzzleloading because I got tired of cleaning the darn gun for what seemed to be an endless amount of time. Are they that much cleaner than a regular inline setup?

    No.
Blackhorn is the only answer, and it sucks too.
Anymore, I just bow hunt in muzzle season.

They use measured amounts of Triple 8 in a shell where you supply the 209 primer. Cleaning would be about the same as your regular inline M/L. The rifle loads like a single shot shotgun but you have to ram the bullet down the barrel.

I understand that part, but since the powder is somewhat contained I was hoping that it would lead to a cleaner rifle in the end.....

Blackhorn has been impossible to find for me.

I’ve got some blackhorn I’d trade for some lil gun. Local trades.

Bought one last season. The firesticks produce less smoke and are easy to clean. Un-loading is simple, open breach and remove firestick. Loading is easy also put the bullet down the barrel and insert firestick like a regular break open shotgun. Best part is the gun shoots 1" groups at 50yds.

Just one negative thing about Tradition's Firestick, is one has to use their pre-measured charge cartridges. It would have been better if they designed their M/L to use a brass cartridge like perhaps a 2.5" .410 brass shell to hold a charge. Person could add their charge of different powder, other than Triple-8 powder, and also develop an accurate charge compatible with the type & weight of sabot bullet. I'd think that Blackhorn-209 powder would be ideal, then regular Triple-7 or 8.

How much easier to clean? Was there a lot of powder residue etc left over? Thank you for the response regardless!

Ash12 I pass one patch with solution and two or three dry patches and the barrel is clean. Less smoke and powder residue than conventional M/L.

V Mang that's impressive! I couldn't count how man patches I have had to use in the past!
