First of all thanks, good to have someone else on this part of the site. Are you a stickbow hunter?
I make a little of everything for hunting, but I make to use, I don’t sell anything.
    But I appreciate your interest.

    Hey Carp!
In making your "Frankenbow", did you have to shim your limbs a little on each side? I have an old compound riser that I intend to use and found that the Samick Sage limbs are about 1/8" too narrow and need shimming maybe 1/16" on each side. In your picture, it looks as though you may have shimmed it with something as well. Can you advise as to your material/technique if you did so?

Resized_20210504_200209_737380010840533.jpeg Brand new to trad bows but I've shot compounds for 30+ years. This group is with a borrowed bow from Jman @ 15 yards. I'm 4 months out from major rotator cuff surgery to boot. My form really stinks (due to surgery) from what little I know but I'm seeing progress using the gap method of aiming. I shot Twin Oaks this past weekend and managed to miss only 12 targets and break 1 arrow.

Looks great to me Sandman! I’m dealing with shoulder issues, trying to avoid the surgery, doing therapy at home now. It helped some when I had professionals guiding me, I’m trying to remember what they had me do. Bought me a cheap bow at 35lbs, shot it a few times today, trying to figure out what arrows it likes best, and trying to spare my shoulder for Saturday’s shoot.
Jman; yes there is a aluminum piece in there, I’ll get a picture when I get a chance. Wore out now, just preached!

I still have lots of flyers especially when I am tired. I'm interested in trad bows enough to give it a go if my shoulder allows. I have 5 anchors in my shoulder so I don't think it's going anywhere. Just hope and pray the range of motion and strength get back to near normal. I'm weak as a kitten with my elbow above my shoulder.

Bought a longbow not long ago been shooting it quite a bit. Getting to where I now feel confident enough to hunt with it. This three shot group was at 20 yards. I am holding about that group consistently now.

Looking good Bowonly86, it doesn’t require much shooting to beat us ole timers out though!

Well there is a big difference between shooting at styrofoam deer and the ones with hair on them. I know you hit them carp. I am taking the longbow out tomorrow evening after work for our first sit. We will see how it goes.

Go light on bow weight and enjoy it, or, go heavy, accuracy suck, not have fun, and damage your self more.

Had to go light a few years ago, heaviest weight I hunted with last year was just over 40#, this season I was finally about to move back up just a little, but not pushing it! Much better to take it easy with shoulder issues.

I enjoy all these posts and the pictures that are provided. HOWEVER.........how about some "traditional kill pics"!! Anybody laid anything down yet this season?? If so, post them on here and help get the rest of us fired up!!

I have zero kills to post so far but I'm keeping the faith that it's gonna happen! LOL!
