Got to rest and study tonight, preach tomorrow, but I hunted this morning. Also hunted in the pouring rain yesterday morning!
After being Jman inspired with his long, long bow, I decided to pull an old one off the wall, shot it some yesterday evening, took it hunting this morning. But I could do just as good carrying a small switch, not seeing anything to shoot at anyway!
W ho cares about records ? You oened up a new , more exciting way to hunt. My first ‘trophy’ was a button buck, probably 25 years ago, with a Bear ‘Bruin’ longbow. Never forget that one.
Sat up this evening, three Deer passed by, first Momma Doe, then her little one, then a buck. Momma passed about 15, her follower around 10, and the buck at 12. I decided not to shoot Momma with a little one following. It helped that she stayed behind a lot of stuff and only offered a few open shots, she played peep-eye a lot. Also helped that I could see a larger body coming. Then he came on in, I started to draw as he came into a clear spot, but then stopped myself long enough to check out his rack. Glad I did! With only one buck tag I didn’t want to stop hunting this early in the season for this fellow!
