I drove Ford trucks for 30 years. At the time, the EcoBoost was new. I didn't trust it. My last bit of brand loyalty was Ford products. Well, sayanora, Henry...

all three in my family including mine had rotted frames. they bought mine back though.
I sold my 01 for 3800 with 250,000 miles and I thought the frame was in great shape as it was replaced in 2010. The new owner found a substantial frame crack that needed patched and welded between the cab and bed on the passenger side of the vehicle. He only found it because he stripped the entire frame and was repainting it. He spent 15 grand restoring the thing and jacking it up, I was glad to see it get another life extension
I bought it in 2003 with 30,000 miles on it for $12,000. Sold it in 2020 for 3800. I have to say that truck was one of the best investments I’ve ever made

I absolutely love my 2010 regular cab, 4WD, 4 cal, 5 speed manual until yesterday when some &^%$stick totaled it.220,000 miles and never had to do anything to it myself except when I broke an axle piece on a blinded highway hole at 75mph. Dealer kept up with every recall..new headlights at 5yrs, new frame couple years ago. Oh - I did just replace a dashboard lamp myself...LOL. I did all the transmission, differential and transfer case oil changes myself since they want an arm and a leg to do it at Toyota but even my fat arse fit under it. I have dealer do the oil changes while they look at every thing and rotate my tires for me :)
The 4cyl did suck on hills while running AC since it was light on HP so I looking forward to a 6cyl with a decent suspension and the extra head/feet room as the newer models are bigger than the 2nd Gen.

I had planned my next Taco to be a Limited for a "cadillac" version while keeping my 2010 for hunting and hauling. But now...I'm looking at the 2022 TRD Off Road. I'd love the TRD Pro but can go up to $60k with all the extra bells. I want the double cab and was going to settle for for the smaller bed but now may pay for the full sized.

I won't buy anything but Toyota now and only Tacoma for me. Bought wife a 2006 Camry and now she owns the 2021 RAV4.

Service from Dealer is outstanding.

I'll join in. I've put over 500k miles total on 3 Tacomas. All 4 cylinder, 5 speeds. My current 2009 has 190,000 miles and I'll be replacing it in 2023 with another Tacoma. This time I'll get the V6 because I plan to buy a tractor and will need to tow it. Other than routine maintenance, I've replaced one (1) starter. That's the only failure I've had on any of them. I won't own anything else.

I can't believe so many on here are Toyota fans!
My history goes back to 1984 with a 2 wheel drive p/u, 330,000 miles totaled by a deer.
1994 x-cab 4x4 used w/30k for $16k. Sold w/ 289k for $6k, Never should have sold it!
Flew to N.C. to buy a Used 2003 4x4 Tundra w/ 36k totaled in a ice fog w/ 260k.
Current driver is my 2nd 2003 4x4 Tundra purchased w/ 101k now with 224k.
ALL of our vehicles get Mobil 1 every 10K!!!
Brakes, spark plugs and a couple radiators and one set of valve cover gaskets is all I've had to do on all of them!!
Only lemon we've owned was 1993 4Runner 3.0 v6 used with 36k, sold w/ 250k,Toyota did the first two head gaskets under warrantee, we payed for the third @ $3k and sold it.
Wife has driven the 4Runner and now a Rav4 for the past 25 years.
We have collectively put over 1.5 Million miles on our vehicles over the years!

What do you guys that drive them think of them? I am about dead set on getting a used SR45 4X4 model whenever my current vehicle breaks down (currently driving a honda sedan). I just don't want a huge truck, and I really think that it is all the truck I will need for the time being. What kind of milage are you guys getting? How is the composite bed liner holding up? Anything else you guys wish you had added?
I have had just about every tacoma made. The last one was a 2015 trd offroad v6. An i cirrenty have a 2018 trd sport 4x4 i bought new with cash. There good trucks. The 2016s and 2017s had some transmission shifting complaints. But you never hear of any failures. My 2018 has been solid as they come. Its got 60k miles on it now. Running good. My wife has a 2018 4runner thats just on another level. There great trucks too. Both get about 18-20mpg. The tacoma is quicker and feels more nimble then the 4runner. My truck is stock with good wheels and tires on it. If you lift a tacoma you will have to replace the needle bearing at some point. An gas mileage will tank. I have build a dozen tacomas too. Everything from rough country lift kits to 10k doller long travel lifts. I like stock now days. They go great on and offroad for what they are. They also have great resale. I hunt and enjoy my tacoma. I have a duramax for work and farm.

The END!!!!
I've bought/sold/built over 25 different Tacomas mostly 95-2004
I just sold my last parts Tacoma a few weeks ago and still have several pairs of nice doors and one trans/T-case left in inventory.

I went to the Tundra simply because I drag a 20 ft trailer a lot and more power for essentially the same fuel mileage,
First Tundra was a 2006 then went to a 2008 5.7 Tundra.
The wife drives a 2010 Prius to work and a 2013 4Runner for family functions and weekends.

I bought a new Nissan frontier 4x4 a few years ago. Extended cab? It's got 2 small suicide doors and a 6 ft bed.
I was looking for a used Toyota or Nissan and they were either Junk or higher than the new ones.
No problems with it at all and I like it. You aren't going to get great mileage on any these 4WD trucks ...
Maybe you should check out a Lectric Truck??
I neglected to add that my wife drives a 2018 RAV4 already 119,000 miles on it. Ain't even burn out a light bub, but I DID Shoot the Mirror Color Cover off of it one night. SHE sure was happy with me over That. I glued it back together and the remote still works.
You can't make up stuff that good.
