What are your must have's for deer season? Those things you always take with you to the deer woods. We will assume that the given is that you will have a stand/blind, weapon, safety harness.

The top 5 things that I've bought over the years that I don't go to the woods without:
    1. Surround seat for my climber. It allows me to sit longer.
    2. Bow hitch bow holder. No longer manufactured, but it holds my bow in place, within easy reach, and secure. No worries about bumping the bow, or the bow moving around on a hanger.
    3. Binoculars. I carry 8X for bow hunting, and 12X for muzzle loader/rifle season when I do hunt with a firearm. More than once quality optics have saved the life of a button buck.
    4. Milk weed. I also carry corn starch for wind direction when I'm walking in. Once on stand, mild weed will tell me what the wind is doing well beyond the corn starch powder. I let a few fly, and can watch them as they move down wind.
    5. A length of rope. I don't need rope that often, but when you need it, and don't have it...you know the deal. I can use it as a pull up rope, tie back limbs in a shooting lane, or fashion a deer drag.

I really do not know, being that I fail to focus upon birds, other than an eagle shoot and my bluebirds. I have learned a bit about each in the process and am thereby aware of some regulations pertaining to each. I did get closer to one eagles nest than regulations permit, but many knew that I was doing so, and that I was extremely careful to not disturb them in the process.

You need to go to Horseshoe lake in Southern Illinois or reelfoot lake, used to be a lot of eagles at those places catching crippled ducks and in some cases flying down and picking up a duck you had killed before you could retrieve it
