This is the second "Yote" I've taken in less than two months. This one was a large female weighing around 45-50 pounds. Took her @ 135 yards out my bedroom window with my CZ 527 LUX in .222 Remington. Perfect lung/heart shot! Now I see why I haven't been seeing poults. Also, there has been a fantastic population increase of Cottontails and Deer in the past couple of years.

    Great shot
How is the recoil of the 222 compared to the 25-06 ?

That's what I was thinking. I have a 25-06 and it kicks like a Tenn Mule, and have thought about getting something a bit easier on my shoulder

Very nice rifle and shooting! Did you weigh her or just a guess? Not being a negative Nancy but a 50lb yote is YUGE!

Recoil of a .222 is very-very light. I shoot 50 grain bullets when I reload it.

No, I didn't weigh her but she was the second largest Coyote I've shot so far. I guessed her weight @ 45 - 50 pounds but she most likely weighed around 40 pounds. Dragging her it sure felt like a 45-50 pounds.

Years ago I had a 788 Rem, in 222. It was a tack driver.

Great caliber. I have taken a fair share of groundhogs with it over the years.

I've also taken a large share of groundhogs with the .222 Rem. up in Southern Indiana in farm country. Where I live now, here in Central Ky, there are fewer farms, in my area, growing soybeans, etc. except in fields closer to town, hence less groundhogs.

.222 Remington was one of the original varmint calibers...it is still a good one but has been eclipsed by the Faster ones.
NO RECOIL for the fella that asked.
