Anyone have experience with what happens to cerakote when you fight a steel pit blind with a gun coated with the stuff? My old SBE 2 has to have some help. The factory finish has been beaten nearly off and I'm tired of looking at it and tired of having to grease the thing down every time there's a heavy fog. I don't mind having it cerakoted, but if it is no more durable, I may as well go the cheap route and have her dipped in some natty gear or some such- whatever is cool these days and I'm not in the know so y'all will have to tell me which camo pattern is in now. o_O I know I know- I shouldn't worry about camo pattern when I'm surely going to cover that ugly stuff with cool barrel stickers and Mojo stickers etc, but what can I say? For once in my life, I'd like to be cool for fifteen minutes! Water swattin' requires a hip looking duck weapon!

Cerakote is worth it for a duck gun. Good shit

What's it cost now days to dip a gun? Also what is the cost to cerakote one as well?

Do you have to remove the barrel stickers or will they do that for you? I am pretty sure some of mine have been on there for 15 plus years. I would really like to keep the "if it flies, it dies" sticker. That one has some sentimental value.

So all you people have your guns coated but nobody knows how much they paid to have it done??

You all must be the "rich guys from D.U." that are hunting the Buffalo farm.

Have a Benelli dipped by 2nd skin camo 12 years ago for $250.00 Been abused somewhat, leaning in a steel pit, laying on sandy ground, all those years & still in great shape.

My only dipped gun came factory like that. After 21 seasons a lot of the dip is gone on the high spots. It also has Alumahyde on the top half of the receiver. It has held up quite well for about two seasons.

You can get cans or kits for Alumahyde, Cerakote etc and I assume for the dips. Oven Cerakote kit is about $45. Alumahyde is about $13 per can.
