Opinions on lakes in the Knoxville area (Douglas, Norris, Cherokee, Watts Bar) for bass/crappie. Looking for a good lake for Crappie, but some descent bass fishing as well. If you were going to make a 4 or 5 day fish trip, which of those would you put your time into. We'd like to find a place on one eventually but gonna take a few fishing trips to decide which. Thanks in advance.
I've been out of the game for some years due to work and other circumstances but I've always heard Douglas is a good crappie lake and it definitely has the bass. Watts bar is also very good. One of those two are my picks. What time of year?
Norris is an awesome smallmouth lake. Watts bar has good smallmouth and largemouth. All of them will have crappie. I’d go to both and decide for yourself. But if it was me, I’d go to Chickamauga. That’s my favorite lake of all time
Funny you said the Chick, I've been wanting to go down there in the winter and chase some hogs. All of those lakes I know are good, figured I'd ask and see what I hear. Was supposed to go to Alabama next week but with the ice storm that got nixed for now.
Watts Bar hands down for me. I love the contrast from the upper end to the lower depending on what kind of fishing you want to do. One of the best crappie lakes I've been on plus it has big small mouth, largemouth, and tiger bass. No matter which you choose it will be a step up from anything ole kentuk has to offer.
Cedar Grove Marina New Tazwell TN. Large, smallies & walleye during the day. Checking catfish jugs on the way in. Then Crappie under the lights. From your houseboat porch.
Dale Hallow. A guy comes and cleans his crappie on my boat ramp after he is done fishing. I’ve seen him probably 3 dozen times with the nicest slab crappie. I fished tn hard years ago.
Sorry to be late to reply but had to get new computer. Big smallmouth Norris stands out. Fish from Island F down to Loyston Sea. Number of Bass Cherokee. Number of Crappie Douglas. Big Crappie Watts Bar. You really can't go wrong with any lake you choose.
