You didn't like the poster I put up? That's the great thing about this country though we all have our beliefs. I believe that most everything Obama does is in poor taste, forced healtcare, GIVE, forced bailouts, etc... His repeated overtures of "serving", "pledging allegance", "sacrifice" not to the US but to him or the "President", scare the crap out of me as a citizen and more so a parent. My grandfather and many others fought in World War II against armies/soldiers with leaders that had many of the same beliefs of socialism and gave speeches with the same calls for service that Obama gives.

Why is he still campaigning, he has the job? He still has a seperate website from the normal presidential whitehouse.gov, he uses barackobama.com to issue statements, views, and rally support. Do I think that Obama has an evil agenda of Genocide? No!!! Do I think that he has the best intentions for this country and it's constitution? NO!!! I don't believe that Obama is Hitler like.

This has gone way beyond a public announcment address.

The Dept asks teachers to ask children to "Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president". Then the teachers are asked to collect the letters and redistribute them at a later date to see if the childern reached the goals they wrote about.

This is politicizing the public school system.

All politicians need to stay the hell out of our schools !!

This is the exact kind of thing that is done in North Korea buy Kim Jung il
or in Venezuela buy Hugo Chavez.

Great stuff. I'm going to have to learn more about it. They don't teach enough of this in schools and that's a big part of why he is getting away with it so easily. I compared him to Mao because of Mao's attack against capitalism. But I will definitely do some research on Fabian Socialism. You are the first I've heard make that comparison, I'm sure it has some great similarities.

  5. Hitler was real good at reaching out to the youth through broadcast media too. He talked about civil service and community organizing and so forth also. If mine was in school, I believe that it would be a good day to be sick.

A good friend posted this on another forum and I agree with it.

This is directly from the lesson plan:

As students listen to the speech, they could think about the
    following:
What is the President trying to tell me?
What is the President asking me to do?
What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?

After the speech, students can write answers to questions such as:
What can I do to help the President?
How did the President's speech inspire me?

Please, please, please tell me you find these questions rather spooky. I worry about anybody's sensabilities if they don't.

Have you watched the "I pledge" video to be shown, where people from the entertainment industry encourage children to "pledge" to do certain things, including "I pledge to serve President Barack Obama?"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the President swears an oath to serve us, not the other way around. Many of the "I pledge" segements are pure environmental indoctrination, and some of them are actually false (such as that grocery-store paper bags are more environmentally friendly than plastic).

And surprisingly, one of the lesson plans that bothers me the most is asking the kids to write about "How the president's speech inspired them." That's highly suggestive logic to children. That sends the message that they should have been inspired. What if they're not? The way the question is asked, it will make them feel out of place if they were not inspired. That reminds me a great deal of how essay questions such as "Why are you not in the Hitler Youth?" were given to young children in German elementary schools in the 1930s. That question was intended to shame and ostracized children who had not yet joined.

Then again, I still can't get over:
Write about what President Obama wants you to do.

    And the "I pledge" video
"I pledge to serve Barack Obama."

Here's a little recitation children were asked to memorize:

    "My Leader!
I know you well and love you like my mother and father.
I will always serve you like I do my father and mother.
And when I grow up, I will help you like I did my father and mother.
And you will be pleased with me."

    I will serve you...

    I will help you...

    Once again
After the speech, students can write answers to questions such as:
What can I do to help the President?

"I pledge to serve President Barack Obama."

    Do you not see it?

And by the way, that recitation comes directly from the Hitler Youth Manual.

Here's the link to the lesson plan: http://www.ed.gov/teachers/how/lessons/prek-6.pdf

It comes from a government site so you might want to watch out for spying gizmos that will infest your computer and eventually transform you into automatons, though.

Do you pledge to be a servant to our president? What happened to the Flag of the United States of America?

There are a lot of good things to consider but I’ll pass on the servant part!

Could you imagine a video I PLEDGE TO GW BUSH ?

I didn't see any similarities, though I only read the transcript provided and didn't view the video...Bush 41 spoke about education, not any support or service to him.

I don't usually post in these political threads, but this time I just felt I wanted to.

Honestly? do you think that any politician on the Left or Right want to help us? They are out for themselves. Power and greed. Democrats and Republicans both want a country where government tells people what to do instead of the people telling the gov. what to do. They just take certain stances to entice people with the same values. It's almost comical to watch politics.
