Hate playing the devils advocate here because i oppose the new normal of rioting and whathaveyou as much as you all do. But, if you are 17 its illegal to have a rifle and carrying it through several states.. all that.. If he was 18 it would be fine. But the law is the law. We are a nation of laws.
How many 17 year olds do you know that carry a rifle by themself in deer season? What’s the difference. If you can deer hunt why can’t you open carry. Stupid technicality law.
Is it? I know you can't buy one at 17--at least in KY. I've used one since I was 9, but never bought one until I was 18.
Although interesting, I haven't been following this incident, but I can think of countless times that I was at places I should not of been at that age, even though my parents were extremely strict. That's part of being a teenager, and if you think that your kids will fail to be places they should not be at that age, you better prepare yourself for the fact that they will be, whether you learn about it, or not.
Regardless of could a should a would a. Everything I have seen the shooter was within the law. Other than his age. This reminds me about like the discussion on the florida guy who shot the dude for parking in a handicap spot.
Thats the thing though. The only reason there is no chance of him getting off scott free with self defense. Because what he did by being underage and taking his dads gun to a riot to brandish was inherently illegal. He will at minimum get some charges and some penalty is what im saying. Solely because of that technicality.
Pretty sure Lin Wood has one set up for his defense fund. I know one of Lin’s partnering organization is representing him. If I were the media I would be very careful of making presumptive judgements.
I'm looking at this more from a parent standpoint I guess. Had it been my 17 yo down there I would probably beat his a$$. Yes, I can see his heart was in the right place but a kid shouldn't be putting his life on the line in a crazy situation like that. I would love to see more adults armed and ready to defend their towns but not a kid in my opinion.
