Does anyone use a thermacell while hunting? I have one but it smells pretty bad and im a little scared to take it in the deer woods with me. afraid of spooking deer. any suggestions?

They work, but they do smell. I think I had one spook a nice buck two years ago opening day...........I'm leaving mine at home this year........less is more....

I never ever go into the woods early season without my thermacell. I am high enough in the tree that it doesnt really affect the deer. But I tell you what next to air conditioning and breast enhancement surgery the thermacell might be the best invention ever made!!

This again. The search engine is your friend. LOL

Thermacell is the best thing since sliced bread. I will NOT hunt the early season without it. I forgot mine 1 time and, yeah, I won't do that again. :)

It is a very good product and it does the job, but I did have a doe bust me last year. I have to believe it was the thermacell because I always had deer all over me and never once was I smelled. Could have just been a coincidence though...

Well I guess ill be the first to say I was unsatisfied. I had a mosquito actually land on mine while it was running and I still got bites. BUT I am the type person they will bite to death and may not even bother other people. And yes they do smell. I can smell it and im positive the deer can.

call me paranoid... but if you can smell the stuff doesn't that mean that your breathing it in?

Isn't that a little weird. I mean I use a ton of spray and obviously anything on your skin can soak in. but something about breathing it in keeps me from getting a thermacell.

In the backyard I have had good luck with spraying the yard with pyrethrum (sp?) and making sure all water containers aren't breeding them. In ponds you can put a Bt tube that will kill all your mosquitoes and nothing else. Worth it if you have a pond close to your house.

Do you hold your breath while spraying the yard? :D

Supposedly it is low toxicity to humans and birds.

We probably breathe more toxic stuff in the air driving to work every morning than what a thermacell puts out that makes it into your lungs. Hosing down in bug juice worries me more than getting a wiff of the thermacell every so often.
