I have had to sell guns before. But I never sold my first shotgun 410 single barrel or my first 243. Those I keep to pass down to my sons and grandchildren.

Sold many guns when I was young, always thought all you needed was a 22 a shotgun and a deer rifle.
I don't own one gun that I bought before age 18, the one that hurts the most was a 30 Cal m1 carbine I orders from Sears and robuck catalog when I was 14-15 paid around $110.00 for it.
I believe it was a ivory Johnson, cool little rifle.

Had a blonde stock 788 in 243. Best shooting rifle I’ve ever had. Got a reloaded round stuck and I broke the bolt on it trying to free the round. Gunsmith worked on it, but it wasn’t right. Dry fired now and then. It was a couple of days prior to gun opener. My wife used it, and I couldn’t let her hunt with an iffy gun. Traded to model 70. I sure wish I still had it.

788 243 blonde stick was my first rifle. Mom and dad got it for me Christmas 1975. Still have it today.

My Grandfather's Stevens model 1915 in .22rf. I took it to a gunsmith to have the typical extractor problem fixed and the shop was burglarized. I never saw it again. The thing that really got me was I had sort of forgotten about it and was late going to pick it up. The shop was broken into just a few days before I went to get it. If I would have picked it up on time, it would still be in my hands. I know the serial number by heart and I look at the number of every one I see at a gun show or shop. I hate scumbag thieves.

Over the years, I own three Winchester pre '64 Model 70's: two in .22 Hornet, with one being their "Super Grade", and one in .308 Winchester. Also had the following Model 43 Winchester rifles: .218 Bee, .25-20 (Still have this one), and one in .32-20. Also had a Model 07 in .351 W.S.L. & a Model 75 Sporter in .22 LR. Back in the early 1970's I bought a Winchester Model 94 in .44 Magnum. Other rifles I wish I kept were: A Remington model 788 in .30-30 Win. and a Browning High Power (Mauser action) rifle in .270 Winchester. Wish I would have never traded these rifles off, and kept them all. The present rifles & shotgun I now own I'll be keeping!!

Lay awake at night sometimes thinking about them, oh well, here goes the list: 870 wingmaster 16ga, browning a5 sweet 16(stolen),browning a5 light 20, browning mod 92 44mag, contender 222,browning mod b78 22-250,Remington 700 222, Winchester 101 trap(traded for a stupid log spliter), browning double barrel sbs 12, Ithaca military issue 12ga pump(traded for a cheap compound bow),Dan Wesson 22, browning 22 auto (stolen),2 s&w stainless 357mag revolvers, beretta 92 9mm...too depressed to go on. Still got many, many great ones but kinda miss these that come to mind. I guess live and learn.
  8. I no longer sell or trade guns. I traded a nice parkerized Browning Hi-Power 9mm to get a H&K P9S in 45acp. It was a good trade and I still have the H&K and I would do it again but wish I have just bought the H&K and kept the Hi-Pwr. Had a Charter Arms 44spl 3" Bulldog that I sold to a friend. I wish I had kept that one too. My Dad had all of his guns stolen about 25 yrs ago. They got his Winchester 94 in 30-30 that was the first rifle I deer hunted with. Would like to have that one. They also got a flintlock pistol that I built with my Dad. Not worth a dime but I would still like to have it back. Anybody who owned a 788 and sold it, now wishes they had kept it. These days I just buy more.

When I was 16 I sold an old H&R 12ga single shot that my parents had given me as a Christmas gift when I was 12. I’ve kicked my own ass several times over that.

I bet. I’ve got every gun I’ve ever had but two. Both got traded due to malfunctioning issues.

My brother was given a 37a 20ga for his first gun from our parents. Dad had a short Rossi .22 pump that my brother wanted so he traded dad for it. Couple years later dad gave me said 20ga for my first gun. Thats been 25+ years and my brother still tries to get it back lol.

Used to buy/sell/trade guns all the time. Never had any that i had an attachment to. None that i wish i would have kept.
But now, once it comes into my posession, it is mine for the long haul. I only buy now. I do not trade or sell anymore.

My first rifle. I saved up for it and paid from my pocket when I was 16 years old. A Marlin 780 bolt action 22 with micro groove rifling. I shot it so much, that I wore the bolt down to a point that the safety would not work properly. It got lost when my first marriage ended. Would like to replace it, but can't find them anywhere.
