    But a .300 win mag ain't?
Don't get me wrong, I kill deer with silly shit every year (.22 Hornet, .17 Squirrel, and 5.7x28 this year so far), but there are few instances where bigger ain't better. Killing deer ain't one of them few instances.

For everyone saying shoot more gun.
.50 BMG behind shoulder. Deer still runs.

i shoot for the heart. This isn’t the Great Depression we don’t have to make “bad” shots and shoot behind the boneless (there’s not a bone there other than ribs) shoulder to scrounge up an extra 10oz of shoulder meat.

We all have a caliber preference and none are wrong. It happens to all of us. Shot placement is what does the job fast and humanly. Granted a bigger caliber can take a deer off it's feet but a well placed 243 round will get the job done as well. I agree with others that a double lung would be my choice. I hunt with a 270 and a 243. Depends on if I'm in thick woods or open field. Either way behind the shoulder is lethal and the spot I'm shooting for given the opportunity

I never said Longshanks couldn’t haul the tonka truck his way. I was replying to a question, you are somehow putting words in my mouth

@Grago , that's just crazy. Amazing they can take that and keep going. I wonder if those deer survived..or eventually got some sort of infection and died. Had a doe on my place once that had a crossbow bolt in her neck..frontal shot. I seen her once or twice..just never had a shot to put her out of her misery. Found her a couple weeks after that dead.

My kids saw an 18 wheeler with a pedal tractor strapped down in the middle of the trailer. They thought it was the greatest thing. I’ll show them you picture.

By all means. It would be just as lethal as a .300. Not my style though.

This was a video, saw every where last year, this is just a pic tho. I would have to think they all would have died at some point or got weak and sick enough coyotes would have got them, but i dont know. They are tough, someone posted on here not long ago, with pics where a deer was shot, then someone else killed it, showing the hole the previous shot was. I can not see any way the first shot didnt kill it.

Depends on what part of the state your hunting in, my part it's the 308 win. Lol.

30.06 is universal and doesn’t matter location.
