So today there was a bi-partisan roundtable, oval actually, meeting of reps from both parties and Trump. He listened to statements from both sides and stated "we need to immediately take guns out of the hands of the mentally ill". Diane Not-Einstein was sitting right next to Trump happy as could be because she KNOWS what her party's definition of "mentally ill" will be: Anyone who owns a gun and all conservatives.

This is an extremely slippery slope to step foot upon. What criteria will be used to determine Mentally Ill not to mention the "cutoff" point. Which meds added to other drugs will eliminate even more? Several blood pressure meds also mildly control moods/emotions by giving a calming effect. I didn't catch the full talk but if some of you did please add more and your viewpoints.

I watched the whole thing live. Trump was talking about the police going to the shooters house 35 times and ever after he talked about a school shooting. There was NOTHING the police could do but leave his guns in his house EVER THE HANDGUNS when he was just 19 years old.

That's what he was talking about.

NOW I agree with the law, if they do not have any reason to take my guns when they are called on me or anybody else then they need a court order. Now because it covers ME it should also cover EVERYBODY.

BUT that same law covered the shooter.

All Trump is doing is trying to find a way to get the mental ill. Think about it. The SAME law protects them and THEIR GUNS.

Trump is NOT trying to change a law to come after us.

  3. Dumbo couldn’t do anything substantial in 8 years and he had two years of total control. Trump can’t get a border and he doesn’t make law. I’m just glad “she” or the old socialist loving junior Senator from Vermont aren’t POTUS and in return we will deal with the liberal Trump we all knew was in him.

  4. I heard Trump mock a Senator with something along the lines of “you’re saying that because you’re scared of the NRA” with my own two ears this afternoon. He’s not on our side totally here so let’s not pretend otherwise.

I watched that today LIVE. What was BAD TRUMP brought it up first not a law maker. Trump said mentally ill shouldn't have guns period and he would like to see a bill if someone was mental law enforcement can go into their home and take their guns. Then fight it in court if it is right or not. Then TRUMP was the first one to bring up about raising the age to 21 not a law maker. Trump said don't worry about a bill on bump stocks. I will put a E.O and get rid of them. THEIR GONE.
I COULDNT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS WATCHING.

Understood, BUT the dimocrat version of mentally ill (other than their personal state of mind) will be more stringent than what Trump proposes.
YES, I do think they should have been able to take that kid's guns. And the kid after the threats.
Just don't want it expanded to include honest, law abiding citizens who happen to be taking harmless meds which somehow would become "dangerous" according to those geniuses in Congress.

  7. Mentally ill people have civil rights too. When they abuse those rights and trample on the civil rights of another THEN we already have laws on the books to punish them without trampling in the civil rights of innocent people who haven’t broken the first damn law. Trump can KMA, same as Pelosi or Obama when it comes to my civil rights.

He said do not be afraid of the NRA.

This time it is different. SOMETHING WILL be done. We cannot keep getting one school shooting after the other.

Right now all they are doing is TALKING on several different things they can do. So as soon as anybody starts talking about trying to do something then they become the enemy, right???

Go back on here and read several treads and posts. Several people TALKED about doing something about the
"mental ill". Well like I said, the mental ill are protect by the very same laws that protect the rest of us. So the mental ill are safe and can get as many guns as they want.

What else are we to do???? So who's fooling who??

Mental health has took a lot of hits recently with cuts and some court rulings. Especially in Kentucky. Saying they don't need to be in institutions due to getting institutionalized so put them out in the community with everyone else. I think everybody needs a fair shake in life, but there's a lot of people out in the community that def don't need to be outside of a facility. A lot of the individuals that were previously in an institution are now homeless and walking the streets with mental illnesses and drug addictions.

Why don’t they just make schools gun free zones? Then there won’t be any school shootings! Problem solved!!

They had several chances to stop this kid and failed. Unless everyone is on board about taking threats seriously nothing will change.
