The sunglasses that I've been wearing for several years need to be replaced. I'm not into fashion, I need something that eliminates glare and allows good peripheral vision.
Anyone have any recommendations on what to buy and where to buy them?
We’ve had several sunglasses threads in the past. For the money, I like Shady Rays. If you are not concerned with the price, probably RayBan, Oakley, Smith Optics, maybe Wiley. Plenty out there.
How well do the ShadyRays hold up? I've had Goodr for a while but they seem to scratch super easy and/or the tint on the lens starts to peel. They've done free replacements a few times, so their customer service is at least good.
I have two pair that I’ve had for several years. One is a replacement pair as the bottom frame cracked on one. I still have them, they are wearable. SR sent another pair for $8 S&H. Otherwise have held up fine. Also, Mr. rabbit dawg who commented above sent me a pair (thanks again) because they weren’t his style so now I have 3 pair. I’ve also bought pairs for my wife and little girl. My wife bought me a pair of Revo like 10 years ago and they are still going strong. Not sure why she picked that brand but they’ve been good ones. Not cheap, I would have never bought them myself.
I like the Shady Ray's. Bought a pair to take to the beach. Really liked them and wore them all year. Broke the frame and they replaced them for $10. Plus, I like them because they're polarized.
Costa all day, every day. My wife and I have 4 pair. I’ve never really understood loosing or trashing sunglasses as some folks say. If I’m not wearing them, they stay in their cases either in the boat or in the truck.
Just switched to Smith guide series chroma-pop! Really really good see a lot more fish with them and they have a guide program that makes them affordable.
I'm a sucker for Oakleys. The lenses are so crisp and clear. There are many brands that have really nice lenses. Make sure you get polarized. Costa, Ray Ban, and a few others are good ones. I about died the first time I paid over $200 for sunglasses, but after wearing them I won't put on another cheap pair again. If you think these are expensive, I bought a pair of Pilla shooting glasses for my son. They are the s*it as far as shooting glasses go.
I have a pair of Oakleys floating around in the gulf somewhere. A waved crashed over me knocking me down and taking my sunglasses and UK hat out into never ever land.
