JRinKY said I should post this, blame him This Saturday morning I was hunting near Little Trap Falls in the far west end of the U.P. At 11:00am I looked across the ravine of Anderson creek above the falls & saw a body & set of horns heading down hill. It’s in the big hard woods & had to pick a spot where he’d pass through an opening. I got one chance & my 30-06 hit him at about 130yds. High shot, spine & liver as well as fragging the heart & lungs. He dragged himself 30feet into the ravine & bled out. I dragged him down into the bottom & up the other side. 200yds worth took me about 40minute because it’s steep country. Then I retrieved the Polaris & picked my way through the hardwoods to carry it out. Didn’t hit too many trees & didn’t break any plastic. It’s a big mature 10pt that weighed in at 180.3lbs at the Konteka in White Pine Michigan. Live weight was probably close to 220lbs. Guy pile was really big. For perspective, hanging over both sides of the 4 wheeler
Way to go Scott, glad you got a nice one Fellas, it's Tough up there in the Snow, Cold Temps and the DamWolves trying to kill you.
Easy when the Wolves are Howling all around you. He has very little internet signal up there. Some those Wolves weigh toward a hunert pounds and he sees them about every winter.
Those dudes are no joke . I saw two wolves years ago up there while hunting and then again while in Minnesota Backcountry hunting. When I hear people talk about coyotes I can't help but laugh .
