Seen 4 strutting yesterday... practicing
Seen a couple driving down the road yesterday puffed up with hens out in front of them. Wont be long till its full tilt in my neck of the woods. I would say the pecking or is being sorted out right about now to say the least. Im already counting the days till opener. Hopefully the dryland fish will come up soon so I can be distracted untill then a little. HA
the pecking and sorting out is never "over" in the turkey world...everyday year round
seems way too eaely
Drove from Ashland, to Frankfort this morning, saw lots of strutters out there on the ride.
I saw several strutting in the cool rain today.
made a trip from Louisville to Frankfort last week. seen a big wad of birds (30+) and there were several strutters mixed in with em.
I drive that same road everyday from Lexington to Winchester and always see them out in the fields. Seems like they were out alot more last week for sure.
They are definitely getting Jiggy!
I have had strutting and gobbling the last 4 months. If I'm in my woods I hear gobbling almost year round. Not quite to spring levels but its there.
I'll start strutting around the wife early Wednesday morning. I'll see what effect it will have Wednesdays evening.
Be careful 9 months from now is prime time deer hunting
No problems. The old boss hen will do a good job raising the poults
Good luck with that!
