He'll chew a few sticks in half but that's about it. Tank is scared of snake teeth, zombies, and particularly frightened of falling trees. He stands clear about 80 yards. now I can cut trees laying on the ground and he is ok but if I so much as turn and look at a standing tree holding the saw, he is gone.

The plants that I squirt last week are looking toasty.

    I found one bolete yesterday.

I was reopening a trail today that I hadn't been down in a while and found a patch of what I believe might be king boletes. Too late but I didn't miss them by much.

    DSC04437 (1200 x 900).jpg

I also found these boletes that do not cut blue so I might do a taste test.

    bicolor bolete.

Then I found some big ones but they cut blue.

I'm wondering if someone can confirm what I'm looking at here, two prongs, three leaflets.

after our sang find a couple of days ago me and tank trekked up yesterday to find our fortune in sang and shrooms.

It is a lovely ascent through the forest of oak with a good bit of white oak holding acorns.

    DSC04509 (1200 x 900).jpg

My sang plant was located along a heavily browsed trail and was no longer any where to be found.

    DSC04520 (1200 x 900).jpg

    Lots of shrooms.

We went back down another bowl, north slope, through a tulip poplar forest rumored to grow sang but no sang.

Still having high hopes of finding boletus edulis I brought these down for a taste test. The simple taste test is to put some flesh against your tongue and I did, bitter. Today I have the results from a spore print and while i have the right family, boletaceae, I have the wrong genus, tylopilus, known as bitter boletes.

Not 'seng. Try jack in the pulpit. If you're asking what the orange flowers are in the previous post, they are jewel weed.

Thanks barney, I switched up pictures fearing a run on my seng/jack in the pulpit. I'm pretty good at growing jewel weed around here.

I cleaned up a rim trail last week and a few days ago I started to address some of the mess that I made last summer. My idea is to put a stand up on the ridge and this was the view looking up from the rim trail.

    DSC04560 (1200 x 900).jpg

    inside the mess.

    DSC04568 (1200 x 900).jpg

    DSC04569 (1200 x 900).jpg

I cleaned up a trail up which offers a 55 yard look up and down to the rim trail.

    DSC04590 (1200 x 900).jpg

I cleaned up about an 80 yard look down the diagonal to an area of converging trails with rubs and scrapes.

    DSC04604 (1200 x 900).jpg

and the mess in the middle including a bunch of standing dead sassafras got mulched with the chainsaw.

    DSC04598 (1200 x 900).jpg
I also cleared travel lanes up from the other side of the ridge

    DSC04572 (1200 x 900).jpg

as well as about an 75 yard look up and down from the top of the cut on the other side. I'm about ready to move a stand.
