His ten may have hijacked into Tennessee after all of that noise.
I moved him off the property late January when habitat season started above his bedding bowl. 3 or 4 of the regulars plus a spike showed last night but Target 10 did not. I got the place spiffied up almost ready for his return.
Been within Pyroville myself all afternoon and still remain, toasty warm Sir, toasty warm, even though Klepto the golden retriever kept mouthing my hand and trying to steal deadwood from me not long ago.
Nothing like a good fire in the fall of the year!!
Ya the campfire is tended,
the Flat Gap Cold Sink stand is up,
wheat and rye was sprinkled out,
and I'm out of there. Time to get back to the hunt.
The girls up on the ridge
Some of the regulars have broken points. Target 10 is still intact.
Friday evening I had 3 does and a little buck under me on the Kill Zone. I didn't see any deer Saturday morning from my new stand on Flat Gap. Saturday evening I sat in a ground blind on the ridge top where I figured I would do the least damage with the a variable west wind. Target 10 came out 100 yards below me and moved away to his staging area. I could see him through brush. At the end of shooting time he came out and walked right to the ground blind. 20 yards away he saw me silhouetted in the open blind windows before I could see him. He wasn't too worked up about the encounter and moved away towards the Kill Zone area.
I had the wind to spend the next 2 evenings over looking his staging area but didn't see a deer. I'm going to make a corn and camera run midday today. I'm seeing some brand new rubs.
Good luck on the target 10.
I got into the Amphitheater of Hunting stand last evening. At 5 pm a big girl was out feeding in the little food plot that I put in up on the ridge top.
Then the Target 10 showed up dogging the big girls daughter. Around and around they went in the thick staging area.
He snort wheezed and I then snort wheezed back at him and he moved to the east where I had an unobstructed view between trees
After the shot Momma came back over the ridge to find a dead buck and in time to watch me shoot her daughter.
Glad to see you got him!
He's became a famous deer, your labor of love has turn into some great reading and educational learning.
Congratulations! Happy to see you get your hands on that guy after all the hard work you have committed. Look forward to reading about next seasons target along with your additional habitat improvements.
