I was thinking about putting a new tower stand on my farm. Haven’t decided if I should build or buy. How large of a stand do you have where you hunt? Worth the money to buy or better off building?

Are you saying just the raised platform or a platform and shooting house? We have gotten into building a raised platform out of treated lumber and placing a store bought plastic house on top. They are pretty sweet.

I just built one this year. I had the majority of the lumber before hand. I love building shit, so this was a no brainer for me. My own design, and I'm thrilled with the results. Mine is on 6X6's, on 14' 6X6's. Probably 11' off the ground to floor. I framed it all at home, then erected it on site. I'm no carpenter, but it turned out great. If you enjoy building, I highly recommend building it yourself. If not, there are plenty of options. Good luck.

How much would you say you had in your hut total? $600-700? I can’t remeber the details of your design

Oh no, much more than that. If you recall, I put in a true exterior door. That was $200... I found one at the Habitiat Restore, but it was either labeled wrong, or I was dumb and bought it 2" wider than I needed. I spent about $1000 in all, and I already had the plywood for floor and roof, 90% of the wall studs. Plexi glass for windows with hinges and all was about $325. I could have done it a lot cheaper, and will on the next one.

I'd love to do a budget build box blind (or 2) before next season. I can get wood pallets for free so thinking I might use that for part of it. Also have several extra 2x4's, metal roofing, some plywood, and hardware laying around. Hoping to do it for under a couple hundred. We'll see...

Mine is 80"X64". Wanted plenty of room for two. Can you shoot a bow from 4X4?
No..... Maybe my crossbow but I bet it would make such a noise you better aim low for when the deer drop down at the sound even as fast as my crossbow is. Windows are almost just slits, I have not measured them but I would guess 10 inches high by 20 inches wide.

My cousin put wood pallets up in a couple beech tree's on his farm and they worked well. I would be worried a chair or stool leg would fall thru one of the slots and dump me out.

I have 2 had most of materials one is super nice the other is pretty good. I made a point to see how little i could build it for. One this last and one we built my dad last year. They are 4x6 seems perfect size. We have one big one i don't like it you can't see whats close to you. On these last ones they are about 4.5 feet to the floor and on skids. We move with tractor and pallet forks i love that if ever need to move.

I have 3 built and have a couple hundred in each one. I am planning on getting another one up this next year. I make them 6x6 with a 7' high roof. great for 2 people and you can shoot a bow. I put a piece of old carpet in mine to noise proof the floor.
