Anyone else going tomorrow morning? One of my favorite ways to get the fall season started. This year I am taking a nephew for his first hunt. Hopefully this will be an eye opening experience and one he wants to continue. Good luck and be safe!!

I'm going to take my pups tomorrow morning, and hopefully give them a little taste of squirrel.

Definitely gonna get up and go. It's been too long (since spring turkey) since I been in the woods. I need my outdoors therapy.........just me, God and nature

I am going Squirrel Hunting on this first day! I was out yesterday scouting out one of several hunting spots on my property; seeing five in one spot. Will try this spot and another this morning. Good luck to all first day Squirrel Hunters.:)

I avoid hunting the first day. Too many inexperienced hunters out. I have 50 number 5 lead shot under my hide that influence my decisions.

I went, my grandson was supposed to go but something happened that he couldn't. I saw 8 put crosshairs on 5 didn't pull the trigger but their still dead in my mind. :)). None were eating, just traveling, found one hickory they had already cleaned and a beech that they had sampled. Couldn't find any acorns on white oaks, did find a few red oaks that had acorns. May be a tough year for squirrels and also deer hunters that like to hunt around oak trees.

I got two and my brother got three. Finished up early then put out some corn and cams. All were at the very top of huge pignut or scaly barks. I stood under some trees and just had nuts rain on me and still couldn't see the squirrels! Great to be out!

Pignuts and hickories appear loaded where I hunt. White oaks definitely not loaded like last two years.

Saw six Squirrels got one this morning. One Pignut tree had lots of cuttings around it, that is where I shot my Squirrel. They are also cutting pine cones & hitting maple seeds. Just a little early and too hot for any good hunting.

It was a disappointing first day of the fall hunting seasons for me. Shot two squirrel and couldnt recover them for the tall sticker bushes. Gave up and went out to trim a couple of new spots I am going to bow hunt this year.
