Get a crock pot. Chop up a head of cabbage, an onion, 28 oz can of rotel, garlic, pound of hamburger or deer sausage etc. Brown the meat and onions, mix in with chopped cabbage in pot. add the Rotel, and garlic mix in. Add salt to get cabbage to wilt. Add season to your taste. I usually add the fat from browning the burger to give it richness. I add quite a bit of chille powder also.

You need enough liquid to cover the cabbage. Water will work but broth is better. About two tablespoons of Better Then Bullion in any flavor will make it better!

Brown the meat and carmelize the onions. Pour grease and all in the pot. Add the rotell and seasoning then bring to a simmer for 4 hours.

Ruin it with a can or two of beans if you must....

Mom's Tater Soup:

* Melt 3/4 stick of butter in a pot
* Add 1 whole yellow onion (medium sized) diced / 3 sticks of celery diced --- sautee' until onions are translucent
* Add 4 good sized idaho baking taters (peeled) chopped into whatever size you want to chew on
* Add chopped taters to the pot with the onions / celery --- sautee' all of that for a for more minutes
* Top with one 16 oz. bottle of heavy cream
* After adding the heavy cream then add enough whole milk to completely cover everything
* Simmer at a low pace --- don't do a hard boil --- mom always said you might curdle the cream & milk
* Once at a slow / low boil I like to add 2-3 chicken bouillon cubes
* Add salt / pepper to taste --- I hammer it pretty hard with the pepper
* Let all of that cook together until the soup thickens and the taters are soft --- maybe 30 minutes?

I like to top it with chopped green onion / shredded cheese / diced bacon / oyster crackers / sour cream / hot sauce

Maybe a good potato soup recipe , there is different ways to make it

I make this all the time, real easy and real good.

RAFFERTY'S POTATO SOUP
10 to 12 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
1/2 to 3/4 stick butter
1 c. cream of mushroom soup
1 c. celery soup
1 large finely chopped onion
1 1/2 c. milk (can add more to make thinner)
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
salt and pepper to taste

In large saucepan, cook potatoes and onion in enough water to cover on medium heat until tender. Add cubes of cream cheese. Remove from heat and stir until cheese is melted. Add soups, butter and spices. Serve hot. Top with shredded cheese, bacon bits or green onion

Mushroom beef soup. Buy two boxes of mushrooms, One the cheap stuff(buttons etc), One shitake.

Toss the cheap ones in your blender with garlic and enough beef broth to cover. Blend to turn into a mushroom milkshake.

Pour a quart of beef broth into a pot, add the blender worth of mushrooms and garlic .Bring to a low simmer.

Brown one pound of burger (Drain)and a diced onion. Add to the pot. Let it simmer for 30 minutes then add sliced Shitakes , one stick of butter and simmer for another 15 minutes. Season to taste.
