i can see the road from my blind and it sucks watching people creep up and down the hill 5 mph with their windows down, it makes u worry if a deer is between u and the road when someone comes by if they r gonna shoot. last year while my dad was putting up a stand there during bow season someone shot out of a truck then saw him and took off, he thought the truck backfired until he left and saw a big buck struggling to cross the road holding its front leg up. he says it was a 150-160 class 12 pointer. i guess the deer kinda sealed his own fate by rubbing a big cedar in an opening 15 feet off the road. i guess it would have been easier to cut the tree down so people didnt see it, but you shouldnt have to worry bout that stuff. i would move further from the road but i have 5 acres, so there is no further from the road

Okay, so my dad had this nice buCK picked out and had been hunting him for sometime now, this deer was a 10 point and would score about 155, he went hunting yesterday morning and heard a gun shot, he didnt think nothing about it but today my uncle called him and told him that someone killed a 10pt in front of his house yesterday morninf, so then my dad gets another call and it was another guy telling my dad about this deer that was shot, it was the big 10 that my dad had been hunting. They shot it with a gun! and im sure they were in a vehicle, my uncle is oretty sure of who did it and my dad is going to try and turn them in to the gamewarden, do yall think its worth the trouble turning them in or will they get something done to them if they are found or have possesssion of the deer? 3 people know the deer is dead but can anything be done? my dad is so ticked right now!

I would definately call it in. One of my friends is a Game Wardern and they are very adiment about poachers. Especially if you an idea of who killed it they will work hard to try and bust them. Call 1800-25ALERT

I'm sorry to say but that deers carcuss is long gone, Kentucky deer hunting would be best in the nation if people followed rules and regulations. Makes me sick but what can you do, they said on the call in show on Kentucky afield they were short on game wardens and not every county had one. So it's pretty much like a county without a police or sheriff good luck on control.

Game Wardens don't just work a single county. They work a whole district.

I couldn't agree more! My cousin is a warden and he works his tail off on every lead. You would be surprised what they can uncover and what they'll do to try and catch their man.

I've said this before GET RID OF TELECHECK and bring back check stations..this will save a lot of good deer from being poached.

Telecheck is the worst thing that happened to the honest hunter in KY. Not required to call it in until midnight of the day you killed it. Even during the season, guys shoot bucks, haul them home and if they don't get stopped on the way, they call it in as a doe. Go back and kill another buck. Guys who leased a farm down the road from us used to talk about it. We called Alert line and notified them but don't know if anything ever happened to them. Used to be a poacher had a tough time getting one mounted as the check station could somewhat tell how long the deer had been shot and it was still whole. Now they can kill it the week before the season at night, cape and freeze it, wait till gun season, call it in and get a confirmation number, and then haul the cape to the taxidermist.
