Don't know if it is relevant to what they might be referring to (maybe it's an inside joke) but , there are no Possums in North America.

My Doe from last night either made it off property or circled back into roughly 50 acres of CRP that’s neck high. According to onX her last drop of blood was 427 yards from the shot. This is the first time in my life I haven’t been able to make a recovery on my own blood trail and Not to mention running off over 15 deer in the search with gun season this weekend. So I think I’m just going to avoid the area all together for a few days.

Rain really picking up here in Cumberland county but does say clearing out around 2 or 3, if that’s the case as it moves out I’ll be following it to the woods

At least try to make a learning experience out of this....question for you ? How long after you shot did you pick up the trail ? While everything "looked perfect" with blood pouring out, she didn't fall over dead. That tells you something about the hit. The old saying "when in doubt, back out" applies. If you had double lung, she falls over dead. Since she didn't, you need to assume your eyes are playing tricks on you and give it time. I've added a lot of info before your response, but my guess is you took after her within 30 minutes or so (definitely within an hour). A liver hit deer can go a long way when pushed. Based on your description and the photo, she didn't travel 427 yards on her own. Sorry you didn't recover her !! We've all been there.....it sucks !

I gave her a little over an hour before I started the trail. An hour of staying in the blind and 30 minutes of packing up before going back in. Shot her at 5:15 and i got out after safe light so 6:12. The only thing i can think of from playing it over and over in my head is instead of dropping from the sound of the shot she turned and caused just enough of a quartering away or towards to mess things up. I’ve read online a liver shot deer or even a 1 nicked lung in the right spot can take up to 12 hours.

It can take them a long time with liver or 1 lung hit. Most of the time with a liver hit they will bed down shortly after that adrenaline quits. Normally they will stay right there. But all sitiations are different. I hate that ya didnt find it. Ive been there before, and its a shitty feeling, but unfortunately it happens.

Had to get out and run to the service station for some tums lol. Hadn’t seen a deer all morning and wouldn’t ya know it, about the time I get out of the blind I see 2 does and 2 fawns heading to the corn.
