What type slugs is everyone shooting.
I currently shoot Hornady SST 20 gauge, only because I live in a state you cannot use a rifle to hunt with.
Copper solids. 3"
copper solids most accurate slugs ive ever shot but 2 3/4 in
When I lived in Indiana, I use 20 gauge 2.75" Remington Buckhammer Slugs in my Browning Gold, as they were the most accurate for my Browning.
Buckhammers is what I use.
Winchester Rackmaster's 2-3/4" in my mossberg 835.... They do OK 4" group at 100yds especially for the price... $7.00 a box is better than $15.00......Still not what I'm looking for as far as patterning goes...
Hornady SST in my Remington 11-87...
12 Gauge 2 3/4" Remington 1 Oz. Slugger, Foster type, about $3.00 per box/5.
Scope sighted Remington Model 870 , dead on at 100 yards.
buckhammer. my slug guns do not like any of the high velocity/high dollar slugs.
20 gauge remington Accutip in my Savage 220. I am getting 1 1/4" groups at 100 yards
Lightfield hybrids shot the best group out of my rem. 870. I used to shoot copper solids but the lightfield beat them hands down as well as the other high speed sabots I've tried.
I shoot lightfield 2 3/4 slugs. They group as good as can be expected and definately do there job on a deer. Used to shoot Remington copper solids and had good success but had difficulty finding them at times I know 2 people that are shooting hornady ballistic tips and both have shot deer and not rEcovered them Could just be a coincidence of bad shot placement.
I agree with fullstrut1, my Savage 220F in 20 gauge loves the Remington 260 grain aero tips follwed by the 260 Remington corelocks.
20 gauge Hornady SST'S. My gun (savage 220) also liked the accutips but couldn't find any in 20 gauge. I actually shot the SST'S better so I was pleasantly surprised.
I use buckhammers in my savage 210 great groups out to a hundred yards. My gun does not like sst's
