They do make some black sole. The problem with thorogood is it's hard to get them. They only run 2 styles at a time. So if they don't have them in stock. Sometimes you'll wait for months for them to even run the style ordered. Makes it a pain in the butt to keep stock. I'm a justin fan the usa made justin's are my personal favorite. I however have a huge grudge with them for the past year been waiting for the salesman to finally show up so we can stock they're product. Guy still hasn't showed up. Multiple calls to Justin still nothing. I'm wearing rocky's right now I somewhat like. But if we get the justin account I will definitely go back to them.

I hate steel toe boots as well, but I have to wear them for work. I have two pair of thorogood steel toe boots, slip on and lace up. I cannot tell they are even steel toe boots. That is a first for me, there is a reason you can't find them easily. Definitely the most worn boot on construction sites that I'm on around here by a large margin.

I like my Wolverine Wellington slip ons. For work boots I go LaCrosse or Irish Setter lace up steel toe.

Yep! Best boot I've found, and I'm hell on boots. Sole WILL NOT wear out or crack on these boots. Hit em with mink oil every few months, and I don't know if normal working would ever wear them out.

Curious as to why some of you fellers prefer the slip ons to lace ups?

Justin, Ariat, or Red Wing. I have never had an issue with comfort on Red Wing or any others I mentioned. All good solid boots.

Personally..ease and comfort. Hunting boots are lace up..other than that..its a slip on.
Wolverine anthem wellington..steel toe with durashock soles are my go to. Ive never had a problem with them. Work buys me a new pair every year. I buy them as well for outside of work. Im rougher then hell on boots..and they hold up very well.
Carhartt slip ons are awesome as well..theyre just a tad heavy and i dont care for the tops on them. But they are a very durable boot.

A combination of speed getting them on and off, laziness, comfort, safety (when unlaced)... kinda like velcro but cool looking. Truth is I started wearing them as a kid and just always favored them.

It’s easier to kick off a muddy or shitty pull on if you have to walk through the house. Easier to pull right back on and get back to it. Wife doesn’t get mad at you for tracking through the house and everyone is much happier.

These are the most comfortable boots I’ve found to date. They are light, almost like a gym shoe. Waterproof. Durable. Insulated, but I live in them year round. I find them quicker and easier to put on than any of my slip on’s...and I’ve got plenty.
