What brand is the one at walmart.
Don’t know much about a five hundred, but I got the first 835 turkey gun, in woodland camo ,that came in Blaine’s gun store, back when his dad had it.Its a real turkey killer, and a star dot choke, with win. sepreme shells.Killed several birds with it,retired now, went with and encore ,for the lighter weight.
I personally like to call a company that makes choke tubes I use pattermaster I tell them what gun I have and they tell me what tube and ammo to use they have tested that gun with ammo in there test facility i would say all tube manufacturers test guns and ammo .
419 for Black Matte in 20 or 12 at Cabelas. In case anyone is interested. Like I said, love my Nova!
Plenty of good chokes out there. I see patternmaster mentioned. I like Carlssons. Heck I’ve seen some cheap TruGlos from Walmart pattern well. Buy and try. If you put a considerable amount of pellet on the plate at 40 that’s about as good as any! Congrats on your purchase. Good luck!
I'm in that group that loves their 835. super reliable I pull the trigger it goes bang and kills whatever I point it at within reason. But I also think It would be a little much for a little dude. Any of the above mentioned Shotguns are good options, but I would shy away from an 835 12ga for anyone less the 150 to 160# they are gonna get hammered by it.
Edit: just seen you picked the 500. I love Indian Creek Chokes. They work great for me. Not sure if they make one for 500 or not.
Yep traded a lot with him ,watched Blaine grow up.
I remember it being called merts when I was a young kid
Yea he use sell and trade guns ,and work on sewing machines, and vacuum cleaners.Went over an hunted on his place in upper W.V. a couple times. He was always good to me.
Winchester SXP is the best pump on the market today. Mpssbergs go bang, but they beat the heck out of you.
What ever you do, DO NOT buy a new remington. They recently filed for bankruptcy, and the reason is, they have been making a terrible product for the last 10 years.
Pretty sure it was a brand called " Invector " not 100% sure, talk to a guy earlier today that had purchased $100 choke for a gun and took it backthat it just wasn't the right one he told me to try the cheap ones at Walmart first that you just never know, I think I'll make a trip to Lexington Sunday and hopefully purchase a decent choke for the 20 gauge Mossberg 500
Go with the cheap one at Walmart first. You’d be surprised at how well some of the cheap ones pattern.
“Cheap Chokes” I’ve had good luck with HS Struts Undertaker chokes ($20). Also the Tight Wad from Premos is a good one too.
My $20 Undertaker choke shoots just as good as my $80 Indian Creek choke.
Over the years I’ve found good information on this site.
