Hey guys I've been looking at a bushmaster varminter at buds gun shop they want 985.00 for it. In order to buy it I would have to sell another gun. I have a ruger no 1 300 win mag that is stainless with the laminated stock. Would you guys sell this gun in order to buy the bushmaster. I like the ruger but I don't shoot it any and the bushmaster would be a lot cheaper to take out and shoot. What do you guys think?
buy a Windham Weaponry AR they are the original Bushmaster. There's a reason the Bushmaster quality has gone downhill. WM AR's are a lot cheaper too.
How much do you have in the Ruger? AR's are a dime a dozen, literally for sale everywhere, the same cant be said for a No.1, they generally hold and increase in value
Got it new about 7 to 8 years ago. Cost right around 6 hundred bucks. Buds offered me 8 hundred for it so I figure its worth a lot more than that if they were willing to give that much for it. I really have reservations about parting with it. Want a good ar capable of shooting up to about 6 hundred yards. Like I said though I really don't want to part with the ruger. Its a beautiful gun.
It sounds like you have made up your mind. You can probably get into a better quality ar cheaper than that if you look around anyway.
For comparison/perspective, the stainless laminated Ruger #1's similar to yours are selling for $900 to $1700 on Gun Broker. Shooter grades in the $900 to $1200 range. The $1700 sample was basically NIB, unfired. Unless your rifle has a special feature/attribute, the $800 trade value is not far off the mark.
