OK Boys.... The Jenny Hole post got the mind to thinking...

I'm not a believer in man made global warming etc. I tend to thing the weather will do as it pleases with a little ying and yang tossed in...

I figure we get a fair amount more winter weather then last year but doubt we get near as much water...

Or maybe somewhere in that is what I Hope we get.....?

I have never had too much water!

Looking back on winters in my logs, it seems that you get a "good" winter every 3 years. Last year was warm and wet. It sucked. Year before was fairly dry and January was cold. It was great. I'm thinking an average winter and precip. The main thing I hope for is fronts coming out of Canada and not across Kansas. That crap sucks.

Also, I have a fellow co-worker that looks at long range forecasts. Two years ago, he told me the Chinese hindu long range forecast calls for wet and warm. Last year he said the Chinese forecast was calling for dry and cold. I should see what the Chinese forecast says this year because it's the opposite of what the Chinese think.

I have NEVER had too much water... I hope we get the same amount of water with a few good hard fronts followed by clear cold days!

I chase em so the spreading out is usually not an issue for me. One thing I have learned, If the corn clubs are having a good year, I'm usually not. If they are crying, ducks are usually dying in front of me.

lots of water means scouting which is one of my favorite parts of waterfowl hunting.

It tends to spread the jack legs out as well and I consider that to be a plus!

anything at deters the current roost shooting idiots from waterfowl hunting is the weather I want. I will find birds somewhere or just enjoy some nice sunrises. Hate seeing year after year entire areas that used to hold birds that no longer keep any around because idiots shoot the roost everytime there is 30 birds on it.

I guess I just fail to see the happiness in spread out ducks. It's different in all portions of this state tho. Puddin's hunting farm and cattle ponds. That doesn't work here. You get a big flood and I can almost tell you where ducks will be. But so can everyone else. Scouting works very little because permission is hard to come by now. Just because it floods doesn't mean you can hunt it. Sure, go find 50 ducks. Odds are, those 50 ducks won't be back tomorrow morning. Or if 4/50 come in and get shot, the rest will go a mile downstream and sit where hunters are not. Keep those rivers in the banks and on weather days we will kill some.

Also, I haven't hunted flooded corn since 2016. That's changing this year tho.

I have actually hunted more fields and sheet water the last couple years. some farm ponds but prefer dry fields. or little wet holes in corn fields.
