I LOVE EM NO MATTER HOW THEY ARE DONE UP. Mustard and hot sauce I like the best. But will eat any of them.

Cholula chipotle sauce is awesome on sardines and fried fish.
my wife gags everytime i open a tin of sardines or smoked oysters and because of the way she carries on my boys won't try them, so i don't have any competition for em.

If you like them with crackers and mustard/hot sauce...
Dump them in a bowl, crumble the crackers over 'em, add mustard or whatever you're using, then mix everything together.
Eat them with a spoon and big glass of iced tea ;)

I always have a stash of sardines in the pantry. One of my favorite snacks-the wife hates them btw. I did not care for the hot sauce style. I prefer packed in olive oil. I like to mash them up and put on crackers. Sometimes I add more oil.

I pickled a couple of skipjacks a week ago and they are ok, not as good as pickled herring ( my second favorite fish snack ) in the store. Can I can shad into sardine like food stuff?

Dont see why not. Red Horse suckers pressure can the best. Fries up way better than any salmon patties.

Its a Scandinavian thing. Herring is what is sold in stores here, you can get it any supermarket, usually in the reachin refrigerated area infront of the fish counter. Comes packed in sour cream or wine vinegar (fave). Lots of Minnesotans use Nothern Pike. Makes great Hunting Camp/football food.
