Pot shots are overrated.
fyi if you just clip a wing they can out run you.
Not when youre shooting turkey loads.
there are no local sandhill cranes. There are plenty of birds on the ground in hardin county just have to know where to look. If they arent typically on the ground in your area you are probably wasting your time from my experience.
Local sandhills. A blue heron is about to get smoked!
Wow man thanks for your quick reply and all of your educational information for us new sandhill hunters looking for advice. I’ve seen lone Sandhills hanging around over the years hints my assumption. My greatest apologies for not knowing everything about the species. Seems I need to look elsewhere for more sincere criticism...
Ah, and so it begins, the season of hate.
I see you are new here. First and foremost, if you can't take the above comment, go ahead and leave because you can't handle the hate.
"Us new sandhill hunters"...So let me get this straight. You put in for tags on an animal you have never hunted or identified. Also, you cannot distinguish between a sandhill crane and a local blue heron. Look, I'm not trying to be a prick but this is a federally protected bird you are talking about here. You may want to do some research besides a hunting forum before going afield. There's your sincere criticism.
Ok, just so we’re straight, yes, I did put in for tags for an animal I’ve never hunted. Am I suppose to hunt them first then put in for tags? Also, your assumption was that I cannot identify the different species, which was to smear a laughable comment to make yourself look wise. I was simply asking for local hunting tactics. Since I’m hunting kentucky I figured a kentucky hunting forum would be a logical place to go for advice. Additionally, it sounds like you enjoy spreading “the hate”.
Man, you said you had "4 local Sandhills." You don't. You have 4 blue herons. But, by all means, smoke em!!
Fill this out, it'll make you feel better.
4 local Sandhills? I said a few. Meaning I’ve seen an undocumented unsure “amount” of sandhill cranes in and around my ponds. I didn’t know they aren’t locals and I’ll admit that. But they sure as heck weren’t blue herons. Do Sandhills not come and go from ponds? I guess anything I say or don’t say at this point is gluten for punishment lol
No, they do not
I’ll take your word for it. I’ll also research further before going afield. Thanks for the info.
That's what makes me a waterfowler.
Truer words have never been spoken.
